The BB cafe is open for business!
Welcome all to a new chill and chat place for everyone on the forum.
The BB cafe is whatever you want it to be. There are comfy sofas, tables and chairs, coffee machines, a kitchen stocked with everything. There's a pool outside, a bbq area, an annexe with comfy beds for a quiet sleep, tv, dvd, books and whatever else you would like to have here.
Most of all, it's a place to meet friends and fellow travellers for a bit of company. Talk over problems, tell jokes, share your day, escape into a world of your making. Grab a coffee and pull up a chair ...
So, with a nod to the wonderful Carole King (Hard Rock Cafe) ...
Now if you're feeling just a little bit lonely
Don't sit at home just mopin'
Come on down to where the friendship flows freely
You know the door is always open
At the BB cafe
Come to the BB cafe
They will help keep your blues at bay
At the BB cafe

Hey everyone and new members who are always welcome to join in too!
Does anyone know how to keep European Wasps away from a birdbath?
Any assistance on this would be appreciated!
I hope everyone is doing as well as they can 😀

Hello Paul & everyone,
I am always amazed at what our friend Google will tell us when we simply ask a question, even a poorly written question, Paul. Just googled, 'how to keep European Wasps away from birdbath Australia' & immediately it gives me some ideas.
1 Ensure no food stuff, like meat, veg, dog food, compost - anything edible, which may be attracting them, is not out there, or securely covered.
2 Peppermint oil & citronella can deter the wasps. One suggested having lemons & oranges around helps. But the other said to not leave fallen fruit lying around either.
3 Another couple entries mention traps...
I didn't take a deep look into what I found, but thought this may be a start for your own research.
Good luck.
If all fails, you can always call on Super LRC to Superpounce on all of them for yu! LRC will Superpounce so fast all youu'll see is a fuzzy red blur.

Paul the only solution I have ever found for european wasps is to find where their nest is & poison the nest, but given they may be coming from some distance away I don't know if that is something you can do.

Hi Paul,
I'm afraid the only solution I've ever found for european wasps is to bait the nest. If you follow them early morning or at dusk they will usually lead you to it. The only other option is to put the bait where they land on the bird bath so they carry it back to the nest, but I don't know how toxic it would be to birds, maybe the manufacturer would know.

Hey Hey Kitty 🐈🐈
Thankyou heaps for taking the time to help me out on European Wasps buzzing around my birdbath!!
I ended up using Vicks Vaporub around the edge of the circular birdbath and the Wasps can't stand the smell. They haven't been back after 2 days of trying
I will be using peppermint, eucalypt and citrus oils in other areas of my yard thanks to you MK.. What's LRC? I know it couldn't be our walrus friend as the Cafe is not a natural habitat for him!
Thankyou again Kitty for the excellent info
I hope you have had a good week
my kindest always

Hi Paul.
Once upon a BB day, the Walrus called mmMekitty 'LRC', & said, it stands for 'Little Red Cat'.
I've turned LRC into a character to play with. LRC is a younger version of me, maybe the child & teenage self I never was.
So, the Walrus is 'responsible' for LRC. 😹
I hope the oils help, because I wouldn't think vapour rub would make the garden smell good to you either.
I can't imagine why the Walrus doesn't lounge around the BB Cafe, when we have such a lovely swimming pool, floating snacks, & all the ice cubes he could want ....

Hey Paws 🐾🐾!
It's always excellent to talk with you!
Thankyou for the excellent tip about the baiting and the time of day too
The Vicks Vaporub did work after 2 days..The wasps disappeared!
Apparently the Wasps can smell the menthol and they fly off 😊
I hope you have been doing okay Paws!
my kindest always 🐾🐾🐾🐾
