The BB cafe is open for business!
Welcome all to a new chill and chat place for everyone on the forum.
The BB cafe is whatever you want it to be. There are comfy sofas, tables and chairs, coffee machines, a kitchen stocked with everything. There's a pool outside, a bbq area, an annexe with comfy beds for a quiet sleep, tv, dvd, books and whatever else you would like to have here.
Most of all, it's a place to meet friends and fellow travellers for a bit of company. Talk over problems, tell jokes, share your day, escape into a world of your making. Grab a coffee and pull up a chair ...
So, with a nod to the wonderful Carole King (Hard Rock Cafe) ...
Now if you're feeling just a little bit lonely
Don't sit at home just mopin'
Come on down to where the friendship flows freely
You know the door is always open
At the BB cafe
Come to the BB cafe
They will help keep your blues at bay
At the BB cafe

Lots of boxes to unpack still but don’t care, taking next few days to do other things.
Plant shopping, wonderful pick me up this morning.
I’ve got dahlia bulbs in a foam box I need to re pot.
this morning bought couple different coloured dahlias plus some dianthus in different colours, especially like one where flowers are white with red throat.
I’ve decided this afternoon going to take big step and join mahjong group in village where I live. I’ve only ever played mahjong on computer matching pairs to clear the board. Have never played as part of a group.

Hello Patches & everyone
Adding some colour into your space is a great thing to do for yourself.
I remember seeing a show about dahlias & they looked marvellous. These were grown for show, & their growers were determined to grow the most 'perfect' blooms. I wonder why not enjoy the way they are naturally, because even with 'flaws' they are beautiful.
I can't remember what dianthus look like. Are they big, showy flowers, too?
I had a look at Mahjong many years ago & realised it's not nearly as easy as it seems. I had a chat with someone on the bus once as well, & she spoke of the social aspect, the friends she'd made through playing Mahjong. So, if people don't get 'too' serious & play for fun & conversation, that could work out well for you, Patches.
Hello to everyone visiting the BB Cafe, sitting back a bit, sussing us out... that's okay. However, you are welcome to pipe up anytime.
Hello Paul. I trust you have been looking after yourself, too.
Hugzies everyone,
mmMekitty

Hi mmMeKitty and everyone else in the BB cadre,
I would describe dianthus as similar to carnations. I bought 4 in shades of red or pink plus 2 that the colour is called Coconut Ice, white with red throat. I bought 2 pots which match ones I already have but are bigger so can have mix of colour in one pot.
fully angered with you, mmMekitty, regarding the ‘flaws’ in things. I think of furniture made from real wood. So many manufacturers won’t include any part where there is a knot in the timber. Decades ago when I renovated parts of my mums home, which included buying timber for skirtings and window frames, I specifically looked for timber in which I could see the natural grain plus knots and ensured the knots were not cut out when the timber was trimmed to size.
the 3 ladies I sat with from the Mahjong club all happily explained aspects of the game and how to win. This was in between laughs and chats about other things, it became obvious quite quickly these 3 ladies have known each other for some time. 2 hours went by so quickly. Other nice thing that happened is they have all invited me to join them again next Tuesday afternoon.
at the moment everything is bit overwhelming in a good way. Regular activities which I’m hoping to gradually join which will give me social interaction 4 days a week. Mix that with deciding where to put things as I unpack them plus wanting to get back to my own hobbies including genealogy and (trying) to play billiards again.

I must apologise, Patches. I ought to have said, 'percieved' flaws - which I don't think of as flaws at all, but some do. Growers of these blooms certainly did percieve flaws & would trive to breed their flowers to eliminate the 'flaws' the general public might not even notice were there.... they were really seriously competitive.
I have a bookshelf which has a knot in one of the shelves, & when I had someone add more shelves, I made sure I didn't want that shelf replaced.
I used to love polished timber furniture, precisely because the polish would bring out the grain so well. Now I'd love to have furniture with a grain so textured I could feel it.
Having furtinure like that is a daydream, of-course, but if I could, & if I had the foom, too, I'd love to get a Stuart & Sons piano - not that I can play, but because these pianos are beautiful pieces of furniture.
Then, find a pianist to play it for me.
That's another daydream.
It's good to hear meeting the group for marjong went so well.
I can only hope for you that the other activity groups are as welcoming as the marjong group.
& soon, you will settle in & get back into your hobbies. Maybe you will find there are others there who would also enjoy geneology or billiards with you.
Hugzies

thank you Matchy and mmMekitty, and if anyone else says happy birthday to me on the forums. I appreciate it. I hope you've all been well. I don't really have a favourite ice cream & cake, but my favourite music is rock & metal.
