The BB cafe is open for business!
Welcome all to a new chill and chat place for everyone on the forum.
The BB cafe is whatever you want it to be. There are comfy sofas, tables and chairs, coffee machines, a kitchen stocked with everything. There's a pool outside, a bbq area, an annexe with comfy beds for a quiet sleep, tv, dvd, books and whatever else you would like to have here.
Most of all, it's a place to meet friends and fellow travellers for a bit of company. Talk over problems, tell jokes, share your day, escape into a world of your making. Grab a coffee and pull up a chair ...
So, with a nod to the wonderful Carole King (Hard Rock Cafe) ...
Now if you're feeling just a little bit lonely
Don't sit at home just mopin'
Come on down to where the friendship flows freely
You know the door is always open
At the BB cafe
Come to the BB cafe
They will help keep your blues at bay
At the BB cafe

Hello everyone,
Oh I’m sorry you forgot to turn your stove off last night mmMeKitty…I’ve done that a few times….Maybe have an old fashioned alarm clock and set it for the amount of time your cooking will take and when the alarm clock goes off, turn the stove off together when you switch the alarm clock off…I do it that way now…
I’m at home today due to circumstances that has caused me to be unable to work today and the sun just popped out after a heavy fog lifted…so I think I’ll sit outside and hopefully feel the sun warm me up…I had leftover pop corn so I threw it out onto my front grass, the magpies seem to enjoy them…They pick a piece up and fly to the big gum tree across the road, eat it then fly down to get another piece..and repeat this over and over again…I wonder if it’s a type of exercise for them…I had a laugh..imagining that I opened my cupboard, then opened my container, took out a piece of pop corn, closed it up again..put it back into the cupboard, then went to my lounge and ate it..then I repeated that process over and over again until I had eaten enough…😂😂😂😂…eating it that way, I’d probably stop at 2 pieces…
I drove through the snow a few years ago…it’s incredibly beautiful isn’t it?…I had to stop to look at it…The trees looked amazing, with the snow sitting on the branches, not to mention the grazing lands…were the top of a big boulder would glisten in the sun with its icy covering, while it was surrounded by pure white snow….
I’m pleased you have some good memories of living with the snow and the patterns it formed on your windows…That would have been lovely to see those windows…I have little icicles hanging of the walls of my home sometimes….I did break one off and ate it once😂..silly things we do at times..
I hope everyone has a nice day today..
Hugs,
Grandy..

hey folks
turns out the sore throat is tonsilitis or glandular fever
got my antibiotics so that's good
doc gave me a permission slip to be off work for 2 days - good thing too need to rest to let these drugs take effect
lots of stressors in life atm but hey at least i have a place to call my own - this room is small but I have made it my own
tomorrow will do exactly that - not much at all !
hard to swallow food but oh well - just don't want to get the ambulance to hospital if this thing in my mouth bursts. Anyway, enough yucky talk!
Happy to chill here a bit. Got some Film noire going in the background... I must really get back into drawing tbh.

Hi Grandy, that particular meal & all the meals I make, I'm not sure how long to set any sort of timer for - I just haven't set a timer, at the start & then thought to check how long the meal was in the oven when I thought it was done. Just thinking of getting it out of the oven safely, maybe adding a final topping of cheese, & then waiting for that to melt, & while doin that I might go & do something else, & forget the timer, then eat. That's usually how things go when I'm doing something - I get distracted, & now, forgetful.
Yeah, I remember the icicles too. they are so pretty.
While I was learning to use my white cane, (& could see better, just not judging distances, getting confused when on partially shaded paths or stairs), I stayed at place where I got the training, & awoke to a chilly mornig, with the dew all over everything, including a string of dewy beads, which may have be a strand of spider web from one fence post to another. That detail seemed so special.

HamSolo,I'm very glad you had seen your GP & have a treatment. May I suggest, creamy soups & creamy sauces wiill help with swallowing. I hope you will be feeling better soon & in the meantime, I hope you enjoy the rest at home.
You are very welcome to share the sunny windowsill with me.
Best get the sun while we can - seems some rain is on the way, (if you con't already have it where you are).
Hugzies everyone

Hi HamSolo & everyone
When I get bored, I now try to remember I can get up & do some more exercise. Even if that seems boring, i feel I am doing something of value, as one of the self-care things I can do.
Does anyone else have any suggestions for what to do when bored?

Hello mmMeKitty, HamSolo and everyone….🤗.
I don’t have a timer on my stove..I just set an alarm clock, when I’m using the oven for a bit longer then I anticipate the cooking time is…that way if I forget to turn off the oven..it will remind me….Just a little thing my support worker told me to do….
When I’m bored…goodness I’ve got so much to do in my house, but motivation takes the want to do it away…I’ll sit outside if it’s warm enough and look, listen, at the things around me, sometimes I’ll colour in, or do a Word search puzzle, draw, I tried paint by numbers once, oh my I kept going out of the lines, so in frustration I threw it away..😂😂😂..Won’t be trying that again….another good thing I done once was to build a little bowl and a small box out of paddle pop sticks, then painted it…….maybe HamSolo, mmMeKitty or anyone else could try that….
Today is cold, but it’s only early yet, I can see big gaps between the clouds so hopefully the sun will find its way out and shine it’s warm sun rays onto the earth today…if it does I’ll definitely stop what I’m doing and enjoy the warmth from it for a little while…
If it’s okay I’ll join you on your sunny window sill, until the sun pops out here….um if it does 😁..
Hope everyone has a beautiful and peaceful day today..
Hugs,
Grandy..

The BB Cafe has a windowsill long & wide enough for everyone.
It' was just as well to get up early to get some sun, because, where I am, the clouds began to build up & spread during the morning & it was looking like it might rain by lunchtime.
The afternoon was cooler as a result, I am happy to have vegie soup with a bit of bread tonight.
I thought I was buying some small multigrain dinner rolls ready to eat, but it turns out I ordered some that have to be cooked a little first. Thank goodness Coles had some cooking instructions so I know they don't need much time in the oven. If I had to guess, I am sure I would have baked them too long. Now I would like to know what the use by date on these things is; how quickly do I have to eat them?
Hope everyone is enjoying the weekend.

Hello everyone,
mmMekitty if you haven't cooked them all you can just freeze the excess & then just thaw & bake as needed. If you have cooked them all I would guess they would last the same time as the rolls you would usually buy. Whenever I buy rolls (or bread) I always freeze all but the one I'm actually using that day & just take out what I need freezer when I need it, so I have no real idea any more how long these things stay fresh.
I think I must be odd, I don't get bored, I never have even as a child. Possibly because when I was a child we were expected to sit quietly without talking or fidgeting for as long as a visit somewhere lasted, which could easily be quite a few hours & I think I learnt to how to literally do nothing but look & listen for long periods of time. I actually enjoy it now.
HamSolo01 I hope you throat clears up soon for you.
Soup sounds yum, with some crusty warm bread spread with lashings of butter.
I will get the fire going for when the sun disappears so we can all settle down for the evening in comfy chairs watching the flames.
Hugs
