The BB cafe is open for business!
Welcome all to a new chill and chat place for everyone on the forum.

The BB cafe is whatever you want it to be. There are comfy sofas, tables and chairs, coffee machines, a kitchen stocked with everything. There's a pool outside, a bbq area, an annexe with comfy beds for a quiet sleep, tv, dvd, books and whatever else you would like to have here.

Most of all, it's a place to meet friends and fellow travellers for a bit of company. Talk over problems, tell jokes, share your day, escape into a world of your making. Grab a coffee and pull up a chair ...

So, with a nod to the wonderful Carole King (Hard Rock Cafe) ...

Now if you're feeling just a little bit lonely
Don't sit at home just mopin'
Come on down to where the friendship flows freely
You know the door is always open

At the BB cafe
Come to the BB cafe
They will help keep your blues at bay
At the BB cafe

When my children were little, I used to try to hide some vegetables into my spaghetti bolognese.....Ha they knew it was a different taste and would just at it....

Now it’s just me...no more hiding vegetables in it....just what I like goes into it it.....

I do love my vegetables and have a lot of them....but just not tonight....I have a weakness when it comes to bacon and cheese...

Plenty for everybody...if you want...

Ah mmMeKitty...Sounds like even though it stuck to the pan....No burnt fingers.....you have more patience than I do....I am so pleased you still enjoyed them...True mmMeKitty..trial and error....you will be a master at baking them soon....Well done...

Grandy...

It's how I always cooked since I was 10 years old.I always added what was in the vegie garden to everything. My mum taught me that.I don't think I am teaching my kids anything with cooking.

Maybe you aren't chopping them quite small enough? I mean, if you can possibly see them in there, they are too big.

One of my sibs used to pick out the tiny bits of mushroom from Cream of Mushroom Soup before deciding it was okay to eat!

I'm kind of like that with pepper corn bits, but unfortunately, as I have lost my sight, my acceptance of pepper has not increased because I can no longer see it in what I'm eating. I am not a happy cat when I discover pepper on my tongue or going down my throat!

Some things are genuinely distasteful, & will never be tolerated, while other things, may well require a more gradual introduction, or indeed, physical maturation. Some months back I heard kids taste receptors are more sensitive to bitter flavours, & will have a stronger dislike for broccoli & brussel sprouts - they were saying it's normal! But still, one can do a lot with mixing & mashing, cutting ultra-finely, using sauces, stocks & rich broth.

However, don't necessarily take my word for it - I've not raised kids!

hey Grandy & everyone else. thanks for the kind words Grandy.

i love Yes (Prime) Minister hence my profile pic, some fan art i found from it. i like Fawlty Towers too, only seen bits and pieces of On The Buses but i'll watch it all at some point since Anna Karen who played Olive sadly passed away recently.

i haven't watched To The Manor Born yet but i know of it.

mmMekitty - Dad's Army was on which i also like, Yes Minister, and Are You Being Served. i've loved AYBS, the movie & the sequel Grace And Favour my whole life.

I don't think I've even heard of Grace and Favour. I had seen some of the other tele shows you mention. I try, but either I just don't get into them or I don't like the over-the-top -mess of others. I think some of them would seem awfully dated to me now, & I'd be sitting there wanting to change the characters & how they act...lots of rewriting!

But no, I'd leave them as they are, to show as examples of attitudes our parents & now, grandparents generally took for granted, when they were young. There's many book examples I've been reading, too. Sometimes, what the author has characters saying or putting up with is cringeworthy today! Sometimes truly offensive, too, I would have thought even say, thirty years ago, but apparently not. It's a really interesting thing to notice as you get older.

Ah, didn't scroll far enough, Grandy!,

I keep wondering why the yummiest things we cannot have so much of without compromising our health to enjoy!? It seems so unfair - I can't have half a block of cheese every day, nor half a ham, or half a packet of past, with béchamel sauce all over!!

But, oh, what that would do to my innards!

Experimental cookery is what makes it fun. Would be more fun if I didn't feel any pain while standing or if my back is hurting. & if I could have a better than basic small kitchen to work in. Otherwise - it's creative, sometimes surprising & I've come to the conclusion, it often doesn't mattr much what goes in, (although I do watch the salt, oil & sugar) so long as you enjoy the result.

So, I think, Matchy's ability to toss whatever is available & make meals is a great lesson for the kids. How much do you, Matchy, get the involved? I think that is important, too, so long as how you communicate is positive & encouraging. (In other words, not like my (ex-)step-mother's way).

& even though I'm having vegies tonight, I will still love bacon🥓&😺more🧀!

Does that mean it's on the way to me? BOM did say there would likely be more rain & a possibly severe t'storm later...I'm not sure exactly which areas they mean...If only I could see maps!

Oh, well, I will sit here on the windowsill & keep watch....🐱
