The BB cafe is open for business!
Welcome all to a new chill and chat place for everyone on the forum.
The BB cafe is whatever you want it to be. There are comfy sofas, tables and chairs, coffee machines, a kitchen stocked with everything. There's a pool outside, a bbq area, an annexe with comfy beds for a quiet sleep, tv, dvd, books and whatever else you would like to have here.
Most of all, it's a place to meet friends and fellow travellers for a bit of company. Talk over problems, tell jokes, share your day, escape into a world of your making. Grab a coffee and pull up a chair ...
So, with a nod to the wonderful Carole King (Hard Rock Cafe) ...
Now if you're feeling just a little bit lonely
Don't sit at home just mopin'
Come on down to where the friendship flows freely
You know the door is always open
At the BB cafe
Come to the BB cafe
They will help keep your blues at bay
At the BB cafe

Hi KT, perhaps you could put in a photo of your dog, or your birds or chooks? Rather than a blank. But yeah, you're right, pets are great therapy. I also have an aviary, and I have budgies. They are very cute little fellows and very friendly. They like human interaction. I dont have chooks now, but did when we were on the farm. Now I look after my neighbours chooks when they go away. Lovely to collect your own eggs. And hens make great pets. Yes definitely, look for a hobby. What are your talents and/or passions?
Kaz, yes the pizza would be nice. I like the pretty basic ones, such as hawiian. Hubby likes the spicy meats, anchovies and olives. I prefer without those specific things. So maybe its better I make my own at home. But next time I'm on my own, I'll consider ordering from you. Already eaten anyway, made a pasta bake. Easy.
And yes Kaz, I understand that its a community cafe, but you are still the founding member! So you're the guru.

Good evening all,
I made some pizza for everyone. What is your favourite pizza? Mine is pepperoni.
Shelley Anne, Thanks for the fresh juice, I needed that!
Wayne, when are we doing the cafe BB donation? I raised money for BB last year, that was a very interesting experience.
We saw "Daddy's home" today. It was a nice movie and I had a few laughs. According to the other 3 who went to see the movie it sounded a lot funnier than what I realised - so even better.
I love all kind of birds, but especially my pet parrot that was hand reared and that is attached to me like a magnet. I love that little fella!
Have a good night all, Yggy x

Morning all, cool and cloudy here this morning. Nice gardening weather.
Coffee's on, kettle's boiling. Hope you left some pizza in the fridge yggy, I love cold pizza for breakfast. And I'm very envious of you having a pet parrot!
Thanks for doing the tea towells Shell. Hope you're feeling good today hun.
Well, the technical numpty in me has struck again. Turns out the DVD player I bought us for Christmas doesn't play DVDs. It's a personal video recorder for recording tv shows, movies etc and streaming stuff off the net. No DVD. I bought it mainly so The Pom could watch his westerns in the loungeroom instead of having to go to the bedroom.
Must admit I sunk a bit yesterday when I realised. Went into the 'I'm so stupid, can't get anything right' type thinking. Anyone else do that? I'm scared of technology and know I shouldn't attempt to buy or use it unless accompanied by a responsible young person. I get very down on myself when I do something wrong.
Anyways, today is another day - technology free I hope (apart from using the ipad for this).
Have a good one lovelies, and I'll probably see you later.
Kaz

Good morning All,
thanks for my cappuccino Kaz, love the milk froth. Got loads of pizza left in the fridge, which one would you like?
I can relate to the feeling stupid. I have learnt it is an unhelpful thought and I should challenge it. The way I find suits me best is: I find the antonym to whatever I feel about myself. So in your case: I am intelligent. And I write that down. Then I find reasons why I am intelligent. And I write them down too. It sounds easy now as it is not my current thought. It is not but it helps.
Can you exchange the electrical device you bought? Funny that we both have pommie husbands!
Have a great day, Yggy x

Hi everyone
Thanks yggy, I'll give that a try. I don't know why I get so 'thing' about technology. I've never been technically minded, and science and maths are an enduring mystery to me. I've always had more of an arts and humanities bent in education and career. I can look at financial statements at work and figure them out, and I can follow instructions for things, and I can learn new stuff, but technology just scares me. Quite irrational really. Oh well, that's what young people are for.
Which part of Pommyland is your husband from? Mine's a Yorkshireman, only been in Oz for just over three years (moved here to be with me, which I'm very grateful for - don't think I'd cope with the Yorkshire climate). He's still learning the strange customs of the locals lol.
Wayne - re the DVD in the bedroom ... I don't know what you mean 😉 (he he). Hope your critters are behaving themselves now.
Just time for a cool drink after a bit of pruning then I think I'll brave the shops for some retail therapy. Shoes. I like shoes. 😊
Catch you later folks.

Hi Kaz, it looks like you've had a fairly quiet day here today. That should have allowed you to do your pruning as well as your 'shoe therapy'. Ha ha. Did you find some nice shoes at the boxing day sales? I hope so. I totally understand your feelings about technology. I'm pretty much the same. I feel totally inadequate with anything like that. I find that my grandkids are a big help, it seems almost instinctive to them.
Wayne - when you say you've been out dealing with critters all night - what critters? New lambs perhaps, or maybe marauding foxes? Do you have much of a problem with foxes and/or wild dogs where you are? Have you tried again to change your profile photo to one of Lucy? Or maybe later you could put one in there of some of your little lambs? That'd be nice too. Remind me of my farming days.
Hey Yggy, thats very interesting isnt it? That you and Kaz both have Pommie partners. What are the chances of that happening? There really arent that many Poms out here after all.
Yggy, your pet parrot sounds great. What is his name and how old is he? I have budgies and they're really friendly little guys. They have babies at the moment and they are even more friendly than usual. Babies wont emerge from their nest boxes for another week or two, but I have 10 of them (4 different sets of parents) and they are a real mix of pretty colours. We have a large outdoor aviary where we keep them. So whenever I walk in there they all come and hop onto my shoulder or my hand, or fly down and peck my toes. Cute little guys, I love them. I can imagine how attached you would get to your parrot, which I presume you keep inside with you.
I will just make myself a Chai Latte to go. Bills to pay unfortunately. Oh, and for those who may be interested - work went well today. Day 2 down, and still counting......... Maybe catch you later.

Sherie I am so pleased your work went well! Remember how you were feeling just over a week ago? What a difference! Oh that makes me happy. xx
Shoe shopping turned into clothes shopping - couldn't find any shoes I wanted, but I got some good bargains on clothes for work. And the shops weren't too horrible at all. Think a lot of people have headed off for the coast. There's usually an exodus from Canberra after Christmas for Bateman's Bay and other parts of the south coast. We're going to Merimbula in a few weeks.
I was exhausted when I got home - had to have a little lie down. Don't know how I'll cope next week at work without my daily afternoon nap.
So, to dinner. There's nachos on the menu tonight. And I'm making calorie-free chocolate brownies for Neil. 😊 Any other requests?
Catch you later folks
xx
