Zimbos - thats frustrating about your kitten! and annoying as it wouldn't have impacted her at all since she was leaving but at least you have something exciting to look forward to, i hope you get to have one soon

how have you been today?

to answer the questions sn
i learnt french at school up until year 12 but havent really kept learning since which is annoying. hopefully ill be able to pick it up again soon
I was born in england and lived there for a few years so i definitley do identify as being english but i feel very australian as well as ive lived here most of my life! also have a bit of french in me and irish as well

to answer your questions em
i have a few favourite ways to relax. one is definitely listening to music and just sitting and enjoying it or going for a little bit of walk.
i also find exercise helps to relax, obviously not at the time but afterwards I feel really good and tired so i chill out for a bit after which is relaxing.
last of all watching tv is definitiley another way i love to relax, i know its bad but any trashy tv is good way to turn off and not really have to think about what your watching.
i just got back from a trip to europe so that would definitley be my favourite travelling experience. i loved portugal the most out of all the countries, it was so beautiful and very old so the houses were so intricate and pretty. i definitley want to go again but this time go for longer and go to the algarve coast down south which is absolutley beautiful but we didnt have to time to go down there as were staying in lisbon which is about a 5 hour train ride to the coast. but its given me an excuse to go again hopefully in a few years time 🙂

@startingnew

Yeah, there are plenty of places to travel to. The means to get there is just the hard part. It is really cool that you write poetry. Hopefully I will be able to read some on the forums. I really want to work on something like you say. All of us have voices but never have the means to say what we mean. As a writer myself, I think that is something I want to kind of work on.

@cesca

It was. I was really annoyed with her for a few days, but my family just played it off and I had to get over it eventually. At the moment no luck on the kitten front. We have asked the landlord but they seem very hesitant, so not really sure it will be any time soon. I have been ok. Keep stumbling in to the same issues that have brought me here and not really getting any way out of them. Could be better. How about you?

there is a poetry thread that i share mine on

i cant remember what its called though

think its called poetry corner

your more than welcome to write your own there as well

and yes the more you write the better you get. practice makes perfect

Ok, so here are my answers to the next lot of questions.

I speak no other language. I hear the kids at work speak their native language to their parents and it sounds soo good but on the other hand they could be saying anything they want and I wouldn't understand them!

Nationality is Australian, don't know much about my history. Mainly from Bendigo area however.

Favourite way to relax is reading (especially about people's lives)

Favourite place to travel is a hard one. Probably loved Japan the most with its culture but America was pretty good too, except for the driving part! Have a bucket list of places I want to go and slowly crossing them off.

thanks for all of your responses 🙂

Hi Nell, where do you work?

ok more questions

- what are you reading or watching atm (or the last thing you read/watched) and what did you like about it?

I've been reading Anything is possible by Elizabeth Strout - already one of my favourites, love how easily she conveys peoples emotions and experiences.

Also was just watching curb your enthusiasm (v good)

Hi swtpotato,

I am a secondary school teacher and work in a school that is very multicultural. I find it fascinating listening to kids talk to their parents but never know what they are saying!!!

At the moment I am reading two books. One is Maus: A Survivor’s Tale by Art Spiegelman. It is about him interviewing his father about living through the Holocaust.

The other book is more a self help book that I use to help me. It is called 8 Keys to safe trauma recovery by Babette Rothschild. It is actually a really good book for people who have gone through trauma and especially people with PTSD.

I haven't read Anything is possible, might have to borrow it from the library.

Cheers, Nell

im currently watching 2 different tv series

one is called outlander and am reading the books as well. i love these as it really 'takes' me there and gets me out of my own head for a little while. they are really good and once i start i cant stop

the other tv series is the big bang therory. i find it funny and lightens my mood 🙂

I love the Big Bang Theory and completely agree with you. That is the show I watch when I am trying to distract myself and calm down. Takes my mind of things and gives me laughs when I really need them.

I have all the seasons on DVD so just put them on, even in the middle of the night!

its usually on tv of a night and i watch them. its a good way to end the day. i often find that when im at home (very rare in amongst all my responsibilities!) but when i do ill often hire a season or 2 and chill and watch those in amongst studying

Hi Everyone,

Age 59 (clock resets to 30 next year) Male but not blokey

Our family was always a dog house but I live remote now on my own . At home there are 4 dogs now ( recently were 6, Staffy, staffy X, moodle and a cavoodle)

I try to play banjo, have tried to learn french, used to draw a lot but not now. Love motorbikes but haven't ridden for ages.
