... & they are also low impact, especially on my feet, somewhat easier on my knees if I was actually trying to walk so fast with a wider stride.
But no seat like an exercise bike. Tha'ts okay, because bike seats are so uncomfortable I would not want to use one anyway.
How are you& the family? Are you still needing the fireplace for warmth?
I noticed, just in time, ABC TV is running Doc Martin, the final series, they say. It took me a while to enjoy that series, so I missed how it all began. I'm very glad it's the ABC that has the series, because it also has the audio description, which I am needing so much now, just to follow what's happening. & there are no ads during the show.
I also have caught up with the Australian Young Performer of the Year Awards 2022. I haven't heard all the contestants, but I think I am happy with the winner they chose. If you want, you could find out more on ABC's website. I think there were some very interesting musicians this year. It's a competition for classical musicians, but that didn't stop the winner being quite modern & 'challenging'.

Dear mmMekitty and all~
It was not a joke, it was real life, as was 'children cross here' as well. Nowadays I think thay have all been replaced with icons., times change, who has even heard of belisha beacons. By contrast your remark would have been good on a Wednesday.
Yes, I could indeed have looked up Elliptical Cross Trainer on Google, but I thought it was far more fun to ask you and see what you said:)
Yes flautist Eliza Shephard as the ABC's young performer of the year seems fine though I did not realy take to the "house music". I wonder if that is anything like the "house red" or "house white" in a bistro.
That being said it did give lots of differing opportunities to display expertise.
At the moment I need the fire most nights, but not always - much to Sumo Cat's disgust.

Dear mmMekitty...yes I love Doc Martin too. caught the episode the other night on ABC but it appeared we'd missed a great chunk of it..e.g. we didn't see where Louisa was having another baby...in this one, they had a little girl a few months old, Morwenna wasn't his receptionist any more as he gave up medicine for a while. at the end he decided to return to it...so who knows if we see any more...or perhaps that was the final of all episodes??

Hi Croix...by some magic, I happened to find, the perfect Xmas gifts for my grand kids...what they wanted too. I am amazed it all fell into place. Now I just have to get the cat into the motel and actually get on the plane. Nothing will go wrong will it?
re tournaments, just winding down the last one for the year but I am not in it...would have clashed with my trip. I have a feeling I may have to come with terms, as all older people do, that I may be "too old" to take part in most of them...just a fact of life...as you know, one's physical appearance is vital in this area and if you don't fit the age group, then you just don't! I am not sure how I will cope with this,...just grab with both hands anything that does come along requiring someone that fits who I am now. They are few and far between now. It will be a huge huge loss in my life...another loss. I am so sick Croix. of dealing with loss and endings.
does anything last in this life, or is everything fleeting, and if so...why? xx

Dear Moon~
I'm rather glad you gave that update. I don't watch it regularly (only over Mrs C's shoulder) bit did see a bit where someone said "remember you are not a doctor any more" and wondered if that was permanent. I'm glad it's not
Of course nothing will go wrong and you will sort the cat. I'm glad you found the right prezzies.
I also think you are taking too gloomy a view of future bowling prospects, youth is only one thing, experience and talent is another. Perhaps too you will give your wisdom and direction to players on occasions.

Funny you saying that about giving some directions to young people...I have done this not intentionally or bossy but because I was asked...they asked me and seemed to listen intently to what I said...I have never seen myself as a "teacher"or "leader" rather a follower or a " join inner".....I could see easily what they would benefit from hearing so just offered some subtle suggestions and advice.....Perhaps I should do some more of that...in an official capacity perhaps....let's get this Silly Season over with first...you know I can't stand it with boring Bing Crosby roasting his chestnuts by an open fire!!! Good grief, give me strength!

Yes, I fear the season tis looming! Although I have noticed Xmas stuff being sold in September, it's when I hear the music in supermarkets or department stores that I really feell the season looming.
The question is, what will our response be this year?
Although I haven't given it much thought yet, Sorry to say, I already know I won't be able to be around BB like I did last year. This site is simply becoming too difficult for me to maintain as many contacts here as I want now, let alone go searching those people who are new or that I haven't yet met, who are feeling the season is very lonely or their own difficulties are so overwhelming, they find the demands & expectations of the season too stressful.
Knowing that, a little boring Bing isn't so bad.
Indeed, if I was to go googling, I'm sure I could find much worse!
Hey, Croix, what'll you be roasting on your open fire?
[LRC zooming away]
Hugzies for all,

Dear LRC, Moon and all`
I'll probably be toasting my toes (or flippers if you want to be exact) and watching "A Muppets' Christmas Carol" with Michael Cain
I might give Bing a miss and listen to Tom Waits sings Christmas classics (in his laryngitis period)
The reason we have fun here, the word game, A-Z films ans movies, Worst joke Wednesday etc. is precisely becsue of all the other things on this forum, all the people in distress of horrible circumstances. Thy can get to you if you seek them out too often, even if you simply want to help.
So keeping your distance at Xmas time makes sense, though you can always come here or the Happy Memories thread and not be in the midst of greif.
Have a festive pengiun (Ho Ho:)

Hi Croix, & all,
It was a surprise for me, too, to see the new baby in Doc Mrtin's & hearing he' previously (the preceding season) had been deemed unfit to continue as a Doctor. I was thinking we must have missed an entire series... not to channel 7 I hope, because I wouldn't have enjoyed it there, with ads & no audiodescription. (As well as the fact, I still have not reset my tele to once again, include all the channel 7s, that went missing one day, maybe a year ago now. If I did, I'd have to block all the channels I don't want to see all over again. Really, I don't miss channel 7s that much.
I love the Muppets Christmas Carol! That's my favourite version of the Dickens story.
Have you heard Bob Dylan's Christmas album? I wonder how that would compare to Tom Waites?
Thank, & may you have a festive penguin, too! (or three) [LRC giggles, dressing up a penguin in a tinsel tu-tu]
(Dont' blame me if this becomes the year of the Festive Penguin - you started it!!
Hugzies, to all, & to all a good night.
