Hi all
as I have posted elsewhere I am going through a bit of hell starting my meds with extra anxiety. 4 days in and told to go at least 2 weeks.
its really hard. At times it seems impossible. At least during the day I can walk etc.
but most nights I wake at 4 am. I immediately get that awful anxious feeling through my chest.
it cold dark and i don’t know what to do. I am so frustrated I just want to cry.

Hey, well done D-man!
You're sounding so much more settled than your first post. High fives! If you didn't get a reaction from the AD's there'd be something wrong. Stirring up those brain chemicals with medication is bound to happen.
They're working their way into your system which as you know takes time to balance. I've also mentioned how severe anxiety might not respond to AD's as well as hoped either. They were originally prescribed for depression which can have different symptoms caused thru a different set of brain/body chemicals.
With sleep, have you tried reducing the amount of med's taken prior to bed? I had to do this for the same reason you've mentioned. Hangover effect..
If you combine a small dose with relaxing activity and wait about an hr before retiring, it might alleviate morning fog and lack of motivation, or at least reduce symptoms. Just a thought..
With work and getting thru your day; rest is essential. Your CNS is damaged, just like physical damage from an accident it needs time to heal. Because it's related to your brain, symptoms are reflected in how your mind works. Sleep, rest and recovery time are all important.

Current update.
now about 10 days in taking ADs
Things are still pretty tough. Mornings are the worst. I am still having trouble sleeping. Currently writing this in bed at 11am and not wanting to get up. I wake up anxious and lacking pretty much all motivation.
On the other hand I generally feel ok in the evenings.
i know I will feel better if I just get up and start doing stuff. But right now it seems such a monumental effort. No logical reason why, just how I feel.
On the plus side I am much more in control of the anxiety and can calm myself down a lot better.
Still a fair way to go it seems. It’s not a fast journey unfortunately.

It is interesting how the different time of day is affecting me.
it is now 4pm and I feel much better. The dizzy foggy feeling in my head has subsided but I’m a little tired.
It is ironic how much better I felt after doing stuff. in particular giving the pooch a long walk. Why is it that what helps most is so hard to motivate yourself to do. I hope each day will be a little easier.

Maybe lying in during mornings is due to needing rest from not sleeping. It makes sense your body and mind would need it. Don't be so hard on yourself ok. It's a step by step process, but well worth the effort.

Just an update. Things are going so much better now. Almost feel normal again. It takes time but it does happen!
and at a certain point things start spirally upwards just like they did downwards.
Now that sleep is getting better I wake up with more energy. More motivation results in more activity and exercise and therefore better sleep and better mood.
It may seem at times that things will never turn around but they have for me 🙂 hell its damn scary though
i also recommend trusting your doctors but get second opinions if your worried. One doctor gave terrible advice.

I well and truly hear you D-man. It works if you work it right? That healthy cycle's got you in control, and what a wonderful feeling it is.
Each small step of health leads to another which is a great way to treat yourself anyway, but especially with a MH disorder. You get it! That's so great!
I'm glad you popped in to update. It's so nice for me to read feedback from kind souls like you who deserve a break.
