OCD Staring

Hi people, any struggling with OCD staring, I was diagnosed with OCD 5 years ago, I'm pure, BUT OCD staring is my monster that have pushed me away for social life. The people believe that I'm a creepy person, but it's difficult to live with that, and every day that passed I'm a bit further for everyone an isolated. Any support suggestions for OCD staring would be appreciate. Thanks a lot 🙏

Hello majho88,

Thank you for sharing your struggle, I'm sure there are many others who are experiencing the same thing as you and will be grateful for this post. While I don't experience staring OCD, I do experience my own form of OCD. What has been very helpful for me has been seeing a psychologist which I began doing early last year. Having a safe place to share my struggles and to have someone there, helping me through it, has been transformational. I recommend speaking with your GP about getting a referral.

I also have often felt judged for my OCD. Friends, family and strangers just don't understand the need for my compulsions and it can be alienating when they can't accept me. I have found being open and explaining what I'm experiencing has helped others understand my actions aren't intentional or pointed towards them, rather something I don't have much control of. This could be an option to employ in the interim, explain to others that you have OCD and what causes it. Hopefully, people will be more understanding when they are aware of this.

Best wishes,

Beeee

Hi Beee, I appreciate your words those encourage me to persist in reach a total cure to my OCD. I start with medication and therapy from 5 years ago when with diagnosed. However is difficult when you can triggered easily. Also I suffer of imsonio so that affect more my anxiety, but just my family try to understand me, but sometimes is dificil for them. I'm trying to follow website help and groups like this one. Have a good one. All the best.

Hello again majho88,

Therapy can be a long, if not lifelong, process. Triggers can be hard to avoid sometimes, but I hope you will continue with your therapy and that it might lessen the impact of triggers. Insomnia can definitely also make things harder. When your mind doesn't get a chance to rest, it can be hard to heal. What treatments have you tried for insomnia?

It's great that your family is trying to understand, but if they haven't had the same experience, it might be hard for them to relate. But there are certainly many people on the Beyond Blue forum who can relate and I hope to see you around the forums.

Take care,

Beeee
