Hello, i have had anxiety ever since i was born. I've never received proper help for it due to my sisters mental health being so much worse that mine seemed fine. I have panic attacks that go to the extent of me vomiting. I've never told anyone in depth about my condition and am really struggling as of late due to my anxiety becoming an everyday thing now.
I really want to be able to control this with my own strength and fine mindfulness apps don't clam me down and frankly nothing really does until it just passes. I don't know what triggers my anxiety besides obvious things like nightclubs and stressful events in my life. But i don't get why I get anxiety when nothing is wrong.
I would love to hear someones response on this whether i'm not the only one. I really want to be free of this terrible lifestyle and would love some guidance PLEASE.

Hi tryingtofeelbetter
Welcome to the forums and good on you for having the courage reaching out too!
I used to have chronic anxiety for a long time (decades). I understand what you are going through and yes anxiety of any level is a horrible condition to have
Approx 3 million Australians have some type of anxiety health problem...You are definitely not on your own!
Just from own experience....Anxiety doesnt like being 'controlled'....Trying to control it can make our anxiety worse. That aside you are doing everything you can to self heal especially with using the various apps that are available.
Can I ask if your anxiety is having a detrimental effect on your day to day well being. sleep, private life etc?
I also used to get bad anxiety attacks in nightclubs a long time ago.....the crowds....the noise seemed to bring on my anxiety.
Have you had an actual diagnosis from your GP at all? This is always the best place to start our recovery...Most GP's have better training with anxiety conditions now compared to even 10 years ago
It does take determination..patience and a strong desire to heal working frequently with your GP to heal more effectively. I wish there was a quick fix...Any questions are welcome as there are many gentle people on the forums that can be here for you too!
you are not alone
my kind thoughts
Paul

Thank you for your reply Paul. It's nice to hear I am not alone and frankly there are a lot of people going through what I'm going through.
Yes my anxiety has had detrimental effects on my day to day life in all aspects. I have been to the same GP for years and they know I have anxiety but have never helped with taking any further steps.
I needed to hear what you have written and I thank you for that. I guess patience is highly needed in these conditions.

Hi tryingtofeelbetter
You would not believe how many times i have heard your story in one shape or form .
Ive had anxiety for a long time , getting worse , have doctor who is doing nothing so on so on .
I agree with Blondguy , It is changing and there are lots of GPs that are catching up but there is also plenty out there they really dont have a clue .
Some help for you if i can . Without asking your questions about your back ground i will tell you what i see from your brief post .
But i don't get why I get anxiety when nothing is wrong
I have panic attacks that go to the extent of me vomiting
These two thing show plenty in whats happening .
They are simply the same thing on a different level . Panic being a more direct result , from the thoughts or fears that are there . Anxiety being the more constant problem . The one that needs the work on .
I would say that it is that simply first statement that is keeping you .
Anxiety is simply stress on the body and nothing more , the mental side is the thoughts that are caused not only physically but also by the constant questions that you are asking yourself .
You know the ones
Whats happening ?
How do i stop this ?
Why is it happening ?
Why wont it go away ?
I cant do this ?
etc etc Guessing there is a great deal more.
Do these sound about whats going on in your life at this stage ?
You see its not about looking at the past , there is time for that later. You cant change that.. It is about looking at the now and working on that. This you can change .
I will put a link below and hopefully it will post as it is for help not harm . It will give you a better understand that i could write here . https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MHr4a71XGJE&fbclid=IwAR2gaQh9eRPbt8bcpF_RJUukFfXKjunCCOtaZUiiigAEXpvqN7CIpBTtpH0 by Dr Weekes
Its good that you are doing mindfulness , they are not a cure for anxiety but will help in your toolbox. Myself i would simply use meditation sounds and lay down and calm my mind . They do help and even years since i have done them if i put the fingers together i feel calmer .
So in brief its all about education on whats happening , learning to control your thoughts , to let them flow past without reaction and doing things to calm your mind and body . Over time the symptoms will fade and even if you get the odd one when stressed you learn a better way of dealing with them rather than straight to fear and panic .
cheers kev
