Have no idea what to do with my life

Baileybasil

I don’t have any passion or motivation anymore, not even for the things I used to like.

Bad things happened during highschool and that caused me to drop out before completing year 10, now years later I’m still depressed but now I have to get my life together, how can I do that when I have too much social anxiety to see my girlfriend or take a phone call?

I can’t study anything I want to because they all have a requirement to finish year 12 to enter. And I also have no idea what I want to do and no drive to fix anything either.

I think about the future and I only get upset, I don’t want to be forced to work a job I hate until I die or work until I’m old with no savings like my parents. I talk to people these days and I cringe at myself, dissecting what I said and telling myself it was stupid or lame.

Hi Baileybasil,

Thank you for being so brave and sharing your feelings with us!

You are not a failure, your an amazing person! Lots of people are in your shoes when it comes to education.

To get around this hurdle why don't you take up an apprenticeship? You could be a chef, builder, plumber, hair dresser or even a mechanic? There are heaps of options out there for you to grow and flourish.

Let us know your thoughts.

Regards,

CC

All those seem like bad jobs to me and definitely not something to do 5+ days a week until the end. I don’t know what direction to go, depression has taken control for years now and I’m too scared to get better because I’m afraid of life. I’m afraid of how mundane it is, how much pain it causes and how much work I have to do to build the foundations I destroyed earlier on

Hi Baileybasil,

Life really CAN get better for you 😊

I believe happiness is a choice it’s something every day that we choose to do……

I had severe anxiety OCD…….. I have now recovered thanks to professional help…….
I was also a very negative person…….

I decided to change……… with each new day I looked for the best …… something to be grateful for……… even if was for waking up…….

life is a real gift and you can decide to be anything you want to be…….. just believe in yourself and that you can achieve anything you want to achieve………

Your here on this earth….. YOU have a purpose! Everyone does it’s just finding what that is and put your heart and soul into it………

im here to chat to you 😊

It sounds so easy for everyone else, just deciding to change. I know I’m a pessimistic person but how are you supposed to choose to be happy? I’ve only ever known sadness

And I’m sorry but the whole believe in yourself and you can be anything just put your mind to it mindset is false hope, I couldn’t do any job now I wanted to when I was a kid because of my education

Changing isn’t easy …. It takes practice and perseverance……

I’m sorry all you have every known is sadness…..

What job would you like to do if you could?

Mindsets can be changed and so can perceptions….

have you spoken to a gp about the way you are feeling?

im here to chat to you

What type of things did you use to like to do? You can regain the passion to do these things again……..

With your social anxiety you can learn many strategies to help you manage this through a phycologist 😊 I know anxiety is difficult.. but you can learn to manage it…

I have no idea what I want to do, I’m too anxious to see a gp

Hi Baileybasil,

That’s ok……..

I understand how anxiety makes us feel…….. i remember going to see my gp for the first time when I was highly anxious…… I knew living with severe anxiety was very hard and I had to get better from it to live a full life…. My gp was my first option………. This first step was the first step towards my recovery…………….

please take that first step………. It could be the first step that changes your life for the better…………. You could do a mental health plan with your gp this will give you access to a phycologist who can give you many strategies to help you to manage your anxiety…..

my gp also put me on an antidepressant for my anxiety…… I think this helped aswell…… talk to your gp let them know how your anxiety is affecting your life…… they are there to help you……..

Maybe ask someone to drive you to your gp and wait in the waiting room with you…….. this really helps aswell……

let me know your thoughts and please really consider this it will help you to move forward with your life….

im here to chat with you
