Can't stop the anxiety

I've landed a job interstate and am going through the process of finding a rental, organizing a removalist, and doing small renovations to our existing house in order to rent it out.

I am not getting much sleep at night because I constantly have this sick feeling that everything isn't going to work out for whatever reason, and I'll be left feeling helpless.

My husband has had to leave his job and will look for work straight away when we move interstate.

The new job itself doesn't really worry me (not consciously anyway), just the physical move itself I think. I have lived in this state my whole life and moving into the unknown scares the s**t out of me, especially since I don't have full control over the outcome....yes I'm a control freak.

Has anyone else gone through this? I'd love to hear your experiences.

I feel like I'm suffocating.

dear GSP, hello and welcome to the site.

Your job must be very important as your husband will leave his present job and then find another one when you move, so that's a real bonus for you.

The thought of having to move for me is also terrible, there seems to be so much that we have to do, pack up everything, protecting all the breakable items and throw out any excess items that we have collected, sometimes what you want to get rid of, while your husband doesn't want to get rid of it, so immediately the pressure begins, then the worry about who should we get to remove everything for us.

How you are feeling I would think happens to most people, but by saying this, still doesn't help you overcome your anxiety, and for me it was also anxious, because I was renting and had to make sure the house was left clean and tidy so that I could get the bond money back.

When I got to my new residence some of my furniture wouldn't fit in so I had to get rid of the ones that didn't fit in.

I haven't been much help to you, but I certainly know how you feel. Geoff. x
