Unsure why I feel depressed/anxiety

Shanequa
Community Member

Hi everyone I'm new to this so here we go.

Im a step mum of 2 who I get along great with and have the most amazing partner and work in food catering in age care.

I don't get along with my boss and some of the ladies at work due to on and off bullying however my job is only part time.

for some reason over the last month or so I have felt so tired and unmotivated and just plain upset all the time and I can't seem to snap out of it. The only time I feel somewhat normal are when the kids come home on the weekend or when my partner is home from work.

i don't know what to do about it or what's causing it. And if it's work related I feel like I can't leave so I can support my family.

Hi Shanequa

Welcome and thanks for posting too!

Feeling fatigued unmotivated as well as upset can all be brought about by a toxic workplace whether full or part time. There is also Christmas approaching which can be mountain to climb especially feeling the way you do.

I used to have anxiety and then depression for years and being in that work situation can really take a toll on us.

I take it that having a chat to your boss wouldnt help?

Snapping out of it is a myth. Especially with feeling upset. If you have a great GP they can also be a huge help.

you are not alone here Shanequa. You are more than welcome to post back, even if you just want a chat 🙂

my kind thoughts for you

Paul

Thanks Paul

I feel if I spoke to my boss it would make things worse however I have spoken with one of the managers about it which felt good to talk about it but I dnt think anything was done about it. It's nice to know I'm not the only one going through this I just don't know how to go about righting it.

Hi and welcome Shanequa!

It's great you have support at home and are aware and brave enough to tell us your story...kudos!

Stressful environments will aggravate your symptoms, so taking care of your health is paramount. Work will still be there, so keeping yourself in good mental health mode will assist in tackling that issue.

There may be other sources of stress on your system like hormones, so a trip to your GP for some tests might be relevant. Having a talk while you're there wouldn't go astray either.

Paul's right too...you're not alone! I'm also a victim of bullying in the workplace and mental health issues because of it. So our experience may be what you need to get on top of things. The best thing you can do is - take care of you..

If it means leaving, then plan. If it means talking to your boss, then plan. If it means taking it further, weigh up the pro's and con's, then plan or get the hell out of Dodge! We have a special section for workplace issues because bullying is so rampant in society and so are mental break-downs. You may want to take a look to understand and get info.

We're here most days/evenings, so please continue to post. Ask questions or just talk it out. Eventually we'll get back to you, it may take a little while, so please be patient. Maybe you could contribute to other threads while you wait.
