anxiety and I had surgery

Guest7765

ok I have been suffering from anxiety and attacks for a about 2 years now, and recently I rolled my ankle so bad that I had to get surgery on it.

I ruptured my fibula, a lineament twisted to the side of my leg and have a fracture to my ankle. Anyway I was in the hospistal for 5 days because it was too swollen for them to operate on and they kept making me fast so i wasn't allowed to smoke, drink or eat god it was a nightmare but for some reason on the third day

my anxiety had become non existent .

On the forth day I finally got to have surgery, it went for about 3 hours and I was panicking bad as then they gave me a needle for the anxiety for some reason so anyway it made me feel better, had the surgery slept there for one more night and went home.

Then for the next 5-9 days I was in severe pain, they gave me medication for the pain but it only helps to relieve the pain anyway 2 week later I had to go back to the hospital to get the snitches out and god I hate waiting rooms for some reason

my anxiety came back by doing nothing every day again.

Now I have the ugly scar just to make

my anxiety even worse

Hi Oz

In the scheme of things - its not all that bad.  Only a few hundred years ago, no surgery would be possible and you'd be lame for the rest of your life or die from infection. To end up with a scar is the price we pay for surgery, mobility and getting on with our lives.

Rolling your foot, breaking your leg, soft tissue injuries, and the list would be hundreds- are all included in life- this is how life is.

So instead of looking at the negative side of everything, realise there is a positive. I may sound harsh, its not meant to be harsh, just helpful being straight.

Three years ago I broke my leg. Spent 8 weeks in a wheelchair. Since then I've had Deep vein Thrombosis (blood clots) in both legs (blood clots can kill you) and have to wear stockings so my legs dont blow up (on a 58yo man), serious gout and low back injury due to the above. But I can walk albeit with a limp. I'm grateful for being able to walk.

Good luck.

well what im really complaining about is the process they made me go through like having to stay there for 5 days and waiting rooms that when my anxiety always kicks in and I have to go back and get surgery again in a couple of months to get the plate and screws removed.
