Want to be active and sleep better

Hey I have been having depression and anxiety off and on for the past 2 years . Before I had it I used to go for a run everyday and go for a bike ride and go to the gym , I used to have a lot of energy . But now I am always tired during the day I always feel lazy and at night time I can't sleep , I've always had something wrong with my sleep I always go to bed late at 2-3 am in the morning and then I sleep in till around 10am-11am everyday , I just really want me energy back .

Last year I took a massage course and I'm now qualified , I want to start up a home business so clients can come over , but I don't know why , I just don't want to set it up but I do , I know it doesn't make any sense but I think I'm not motivated to do it .

Hi Kay roe,

Welcome to the forums and thanks for your post.

I'm sorry that you've been struggling a lot with your energy; it sounds like there's definitely been a big change in the last few years! Can I ask what sort of exercise you're doing now (if you are)? I'm asking because hopefully you can try and build up whatever you are doing slowly.

The idea of the massage course sounds great - and my first thought was that I could definitely do with a massage! ha. My thoughts are that maybe with your depression and anxiety often it feels constant but in reality it often waves throughout the day/week/month. So maybe there are times where you're feeling a little bit better which leads to that motivation and idea but then when you're feeling worse you lose the motivation.

Have you seen a psychologist or considered seeing one?

It may help to try and do some goal setting; so your big goal for health might be to go to the gym twice a week and your big goal for career might be to get a client for your home business. So then in order to get to that stage you need to set smaller goals; starting with whatever you are completely comfortable with.

If you're interested in this idea there are a couple of links that might be able to help -
