Sometimes after reflection we know a clear path but because of bad choices made previously Sometimes decades ago we are entrenched. Hope is not a factor only survival. Responsibility of children and pets make.it impossible to renew.
We live day to day.
This creates a depression which goes against the core of optimism
I know what I have to do. Be grateful. But how do I create meaningful relationships with teenage children and work hard to create a neglected career then try to make life affirming decisions. Tough
I'm sad

Dear PJ2023~
Welcome here to the Forum. I'm glad you came as you sound as if you feel trapped.
I'd have ot agree htat choices -or probably circumstances as much as anything - can frame our lives. You have teenage kids, pets and not been able ot work as you would wish.
True, htese can be very limiting, however is that all they are? I've a large cat 'supervising' at my left elbow as I type, it is only a small thing in it's way but I enjoy it and I would miss it if it did not happen. Are your pets all drudgery or do you get some pleasure from them too?
Teenagers can be very difficult and sometimes one cannot see love returned, is htis the case with you ?
You did mention a neglected career, do you mind if I ask waht that career was -and if just having somethng that brought in the bread was the important thing, or was there more to the career than that ?
Haven't said much have I? Still it is a start, would you like to come back and talk more about your life and the hopes you used ot have?
Croix

Hello PJ2023
Welcome to the forum. You express yourself well & I can see why life feels so tough.
I'm not sure if I have any useful answers for you, because my circumstances are very different to yours.
The only thing I can think off the top of my head is to suggest you sit & take a deep breath. Then try to not tackle everything all at once.
After that, I have no first-hand experience from which to draw on.
I'm glad you have found your way here.
I wonder if the depression you speak of is such that you feel you might need help with? If so, have you spoken to anyone about the way you feel?
Please, be as caring & kind to your children, your pets & yourself - you are all important.
