Hi I live with chronic pain, I'm 56 in 6 weeks and I am trying my best to cope "A normal Life".
I function at high levels of pain but its getting to me.
I don't normally reach out, but I'm looking for some advice towards strategies I can use to help lighten the mindset of frustration I am constantly in.

Hi love,
I have struggled with chronic pain for years I know how exhausting it is. Sucks the life out of you.
Im 23 years old and for the last 5 years ive been living with morbid obesity paired with PTSD, depression and anxiety. At my heaviest I was 185kgs and could barley function. I dont know how i managed to hold a job to be honest.
I found even walking was difficult, to get outside and enjoy the sunshine was a struggle and was never fully enjoyed because of the pain I was in. My joints were on fire.
I found low impact chair yoga got my body moving, i did it at my own pace and only reached as far as i could without pain. Senior workouts and aqua aerobics at a gym were also low impact and not easy but manageable. on the good mental health days i could push myself to the pool and meet some people and get moving, even if i was slower than the others.
I am on a weight loss journey and have found after losing 50kgs my pain has significantly reduced, but im more prone to injury so really, still chronic pain, just for different reasons. at my current weight 130kgs (ish) i can go on bush walks (you wont catch me on an incline, flat paths only) i started with 10 min walks and every time i go out i try to do an extra 5 mins, 10 mins monday, 15 mins wednesday, 20 mins friday etc. take it at your own pace. see what works for you, the stretches and yoga help alot especially with the chair if your mobility is low or impared.
if you struggle with fluid retention, swelling or lymphedema, i reccomend dry brushing your skin to move the fluid and elevate your legs for 30 mins a day to help eleviate the swelling, as well as an anti imflamitory diet, do a little google if this is relevant to you, the small changes, (even if they were high effort at the time) made a huge difference.
youre not alone, get in some chronic pain facebook groups too! i find it helps to chat in the pages with others, helps you feel less alone ❤️
huggs

Hello and warm welcome to the forums. Thanks for reaching out and sharing.
Really sorry to hear about your challenges. Living with chronic pain can be very draining both mentally and physically. It can have a significant effect on the quality of your life and can affect your mobility and independence.
If I may ask, have you checked with your GP and hopefully taking proper medication to manage the pain?
Have you tried Mindfulness exercises?
I have heard that mindfulness really helps manage chronic pain. Mindfulness exercises help people to focus their mind and body in the moment without judgement. They also help in managing negative or worrisome thoughts about the pain.
I really hope you feel better, happy to listen and help...
Take care
