Hi, welcome

Yes, I endured similar for decades without knowing there can be one of several reasons for that.

Mine is a condition called dysthymia. Place that word in the search bar at the top of the page.

Often, as in my case it can be as little as one medication low in strength, to offset the condition however, nothing beats a proper diagnosis so visit year GP.

GOOD LUCK

Hi vanillabare, welcome.

Yes that's common.

Hi TonyWK, I also have Dysthymia, my Psychiatrist diagnosed me with Major Depressive Disorder but also Dysthymia at the same time. So he says some days it's more Dysthymia, some days more Major Depressive Disorder. I never really heard of it, aswell as Avoidant Personality Disorder, which I also have as a diagnosis. Sometimes it helps knowing you're not alone.

Hello Vanillabare, and a warm welcome.

People can have the ability to cry at any time, but that's probably not the situation here because when you are struggling with any type of mental disorder you maybe prone to cry at even the most inconvenient time, even when other people find some laughter to express themselves.

Crying could easily happen by watching a cartoon, and when I was suffering happened with countless times, and asked the question 'why are you crying', you should be smiling.

How you are feeling only means it's time to see your doctor, and if you break down, they have a box of tissues that are always on their desk.

Doctors know how you are feeling, and there's a possibility they have also had to struggle through this themselves and required medical help.

Please never be ashamed in doing this, it's your first callout for help and if you want to get back to us that would be great.

Geoff.

Hi vanillabare I used to have that pre antidepressants and still do sometimes and I even woke during the night one night full on crying and another night during the night I also woke up in the middle of a panic attack to so I can’t wait for a official diagnosis/diagnosis’s then to start some therapy to help with things hopefully.
