Hi, I'm Janksie, I initially started with writing my problems down and now I feel I want to help everyone. I am currently a stay at home mum with a 10 month old boy. I have studied the diploma of counselling and also done a certificate of creative writing. Small achievements but big for me. Anyway, I have been suffering from depression for two years and also have post natal and perinatal  depression. I am currently on medication to help me cope with daily life. I live in Brisbane with my husband and his family. We are a joint family.

After coming on this site, I feel I want to help people talk about the way they feel and give as much support as I can.

I would love  to be part of this lovely community as I feel I belong here.

looking forward to all of it

take care

Hello Janksie

Welcome to Beyond Blue, it's good to have you here. How lovely to have your young son. Babies are so gorgeous but I must admit to being a classic grandma, happy to play with the children and happy to hand them back.

Brisbane is still a bit warm at the moment. I wish it would cool off a bit but perhaps in a few months I will be complaining about the cold. Oh dear!

There are lots of threads to follow in the various forums, so I suggest you browse a little before writing. You are welcome to start your own thread but try not to duplicate another thread. Much easier to join in the first conversation and get all the good oil.

I hope you will stay with for a while and thanks for your offer.

Good Afternoon Janskie

Big Welcome to the BB Forums. What a positive post!

Well done on your 10month old boy! And also to achieve your Diploma in Counselling and Certificate in Writing. You are very entitled to be very proud of yourself.

Good on you too for letting the medication help you..Meds are great building blocks on which to move toward recovery

As Mary said...I also hope you will stay with us and join in.

Kind Thoughts

Hi Janksie.  Good to hear from you, I hail from Ipswich actually.   I agree with you about the weather, I'm rather sick of this heat.  Come winter the cooler weather will be welcome for a while.  It's actually good too not to have daylight saving either.  I originate from N.Z, daylight saving was great there because the heat was less intense than here.  We get daylight here till after 7pm in the summer, so we don't really need the extra hour.  I'll probably get a few opposition remarks on that one, but we are all entitled to our own thoughts.  I answered your original post re: first bf.  Glad I was able to help you there.

Dear Mjr

Hello and welcome to Beyond Blue. It's always nice to welcome new people to the forum. I hope you are having a good look round at all the information available to you and exploring the various sections of the forum. Please feel free to join in any conversation or start your own thread. Make sure it is about a different topic to any other thread. It gets confusing to have two similar threads going.

Congratulations on your daughter. I imagine you are very proud of her. We would love to know a little bit about you, such as hobbies etc. I look forward to continuing our conversation.

Mary

Pipsy, I used to live in Rosewood before I moved to Brisbane. Summers are far too hot out there.

Hi.  Been to Rosewood several times.  I find the further inland you go, the hotter it gets.  Here in Ipswich we have extremely high temps.  I have the air con going most of the day.  We were on the G. Coast for a few years when we first arrived, but coming from N.Z, even that was unbearable for me.  It took me about 3 months to acclimatize.   Ex IL's live on the coast, she moans bitterly hot or cold.  Sometimes I used to think about relocating, but it doesn't really bother me now.  Been back to N.Z a few times, wouldn't even consider moving back though.

Hi Mary

Haven't looked around too much yet, just taken 5 to myself to have a little look. Thanks for writing, umm I'm not really sure what my hobbies are anymore, but things I used to enjoyable, I looove animals, excercise(when I feel up to it), photos I love taking pics, music and singing/dancing (sorry for everyone's ears lol) I'm a bit of a thrill seeker, so anything with a bit of adrenaline.

Yeah my daughters pretty special, she's got a big personality so often makes me laugh. I have 3 step children also, 14,11 and 10.

How about urself Mary, do u have any children? What do you enjoy doing?

Bye for now
