Hello all my names Deano
Currently I live at the Gold Coast where i have completed my Diploma Of Community Services (case management).
I am currently working on my Diploma Of Youth Work in an online mode.
My ambition is getting into the Job Network sector to help people get into the work force with the current skills
they have. I would like to help people who need a career change or young people
who have come out of school recently and have no idea where to go or
know what to do with their lives; give them some support and advice on
where to look for new courses.
My background involves a lot of information technology, security training, hospitality training and warehousing.
I have come to beyond blue to offer
my spare time to help anyone that needs someone to talk to or any advice on something.
Cheers
Deano

Welcome Deano!
Thanks for joining us, I know your time here will be much appreciated. I love the sound of what you are doing and no doubt there will be opportunities for you to reply to posts in relation to jobs and careers, a common challenge! Perhaps when you feel like it you could share some tips in the 'Staying Well' section, a lot of people suffer from job dissatisfaction. All the best.

Hi Deano, a warm welcome here
Quite often posters here looking for ideas on how to manage their emotional struggles are in work that doesn't help their cause, in fact it feeds their symptoms.
As a "package" of recommendations I often ask them to reconsider their career and change it if they can from a high stress environment to a less stressful one. Often they don't even think about that. Younger people in particular feel they would be throwing away years of study to go from their chosen field (say teaching) to and calmer environment. But often this is a reflection of how their illness is not taken serious enough. We all do that, we think we are ok, we think we can cope "somehow" until we end up collapsed in a ball. Prevention of further mental illness is high on the list of "best practice" IMO. It is also underrated as a form of guidance. We know anxiety for example can lead to depression down the track. Far better to get advice to the person before they develop a depressive disorder.
For this reason here we often use our own life's experiences to guide the poster along the right road. Most of us are sufferers of some mental disorder and although we cannot replace any professional medical expert on many matters we can, within a short space of time, give them some comfort that they aren't alone nor unique in their feelings.
Welcome here. I've always believed that this forum is a great place for aspiring career oriented people to gain experience.
Hope this assists you.

do this is such a great honour.
There are many times when we wish we had the knowledge to offer to those who post in, but to have someone like you to
actually give the support to these people is a terrific bonus for all of us. Geoff.

Hello Deano
And here's another welcome to Beyond Blue. It's great that you have found us and that you are willing to give a hand to those who could use your expertise.
Please feel free to join the conversations and give the benefit of your experiences.
I am sorry CentreLink is misbehaving. When I retired and started to organise my pension I was asked for a number of documents which I supplied. Then I was asked for more documents, again supplied. The crunch came when I was asked again for a set of the original documents I had provided. And it took a while to convince them that the documents were in their paper file. Someone had "forgotten" to scan them into the computer. Not a happy start to retirement.
It is unfortunate that there are people who rort any system meant to help. I suggest you ignore that aspect as you can do nothing about it and it will continue to play on your mind. You have a number of difficulties to manage at the moment, including your baby and his teething. Not a happy place for him at the moment. It's times like these I am pleased my children are grown up. They can manage their own babies teething troubles.
But all joking apart I do sympathize with your current load. Studying on its own is very stressful so adding a teenager and baby to the mix, then struggling with CentreLink and looking for work can be horrendous. I hope you will soon be employed and relieve several of your more pressing problems.
Mary
