Hi, I'm new. I decided to join to hear about others and how they deal with their difficulties. I have been upset a bit lately and trying to adjust to year eleven. I am finding it hard to adjust to everything new in my life.

Welcome Someone-who-sleeps

It is really great to have you join this really supportive and caring community and I hope that we can chat some more about things that are going on for you at the moment.

Year 11 is alot, a real lot. I have a son who is doing it also and trying to manage social activities as well as the changes in his world too. We put so much pressure on our young people these days and there are so many young adults feeling so overwhelmed and confused and in pain. I am sorry that we have moved to a way of "having to have everything figured out"..as it is not a reflection of real life. We change and we grow all the time, so things we did in Year 11 may not matter so much when we are 20 or 30 or 40.

We are here to chat with you if you would like and to listen to what is going on for you, if you would like.

I am so sorry that you have been feeling upset, but so very proud you are here and have found some support.

Hugs to you Someone-who-sleeps

I too welcome you to the forum and thanks for writing your first post.

Year eleven is a challenge and I am sold it was called Fifth form and even now I remember how hard it was and how I was ok till then and then academically, socially and mentally I was struggling.

Today there is acknowledgement of how hard change is and how you are expected to have grown up over the summer holidays and be seniors who instantly can study and act maturely.

Year 11 is in my opinion, harder than year 12. This because you get introduced to all sorts of new things and all sorts of new experiences and there are changes in your social, school, family and personal life which will challenge you. However, you have all the knowledge and skills locked away in that amazing mind of yours just waiting to burst out and amaze the world. You can beat those challenges as well. This year will steel and galvanise you, so you can be even better next year and face that new set of challenges head on. All of us here are behind you and believe in you.
