Hey people,

I am super nervous about posting here but have been feeling very isolated. I have family and friends around me who are very supportive but I feel like nobody understand what I'm going through. Hoping to find some like minded people to chat to a I don't feel so alone.

So, if you are suffering from depression and/or grieving the sudden loss of a partner, I'd love to hear from you.

Cheers.

Hi, welcome

Nothing to be nervous about. This site has a depth of threads that will help 24/7 and regular help.

I have bipolar2, dwindling depression, dysthymia, anxiety.

At this point I'd like to recommend some threads to read even if its just the first post I've written.

Use google

Topic: depression, a ship on the high seas- beyondblue

Topic: how natural is your depression?- beyondblue

Topic: depression the timing of motivation- beyondblue

Topic: depression, distraction and variety- beyondblue

Topic: coping with grief- beyondblue

I hope those examples help. Again welcome aboard. If you have questions repost here or start a new thread.

Thanks so much. I've read most of those already but thought it was time to step into the scary world of forums. It feels good to have taken the first step 😊

Hi UsedToBeAnOptimist,

Found your thread obviously 😊. You're doing great reaching out to others already... it is really lovely to see. Just keep in mind the forums aren't immediate so if it takes a little while for replies that's pretty normal. I'm glad you joined. Reading the forums is one thing... Interacting with others is a whole new thing.

I'm sorry to hear about your partner that must be a huge change to cope with. Have you got much in the way of offline supports? Thought about maybe picking up a class or a new hobby to keep you busy?

I'm not familiar with grief like this but depression is an old friend so I can relate to this. What sort of things have you got in place to manage your depression?

Anyway I'll stop waffling and just say welcome. Hope to see your optimism return over time.

Thanks, Quercus.

I have some great support around me with great family and friends and a great psychologist but I am struggling a bit more than usual this last week. I'm on anti depressants which have been working well but now I can feel myself coasting back into wanting to spend time alone, struggling to get out of bed, cancelling on social engagements etc.

Thanks for the info about how long it takes to get replies, I'll keep checking back in.

🙂
