What is the point?
Why am I here?
I keep asking this question to God, not sure if I believe or not, but that is the question, why am I here, for what purpose. Its not like he gave me anything, looks, brains, strength, friends, family, nothing, so why do I continue to live this life?

Hi Elliethetired,
Welcome to the forums, we're glad to have you here. The questions you are asking are fundamental, challenging, and sometimes maddening. People spend their whole lives wondering what purpose they were born for, and there are whole branches of philosophy dedicated to investigating these big questions. One of my favorite summaries of human life is that each of us is "thrown" into the world, into bodies and lives none of us asked for.
If you think about it, it's really a strange scenario to be in. To have a life, a body, a mind, without ever having asked for one. It's what makes life hard and scary, but also wonderful and full of possibility.
You say you feel like you have no gifts to give or receive in terms of your looks, intellect, personality, family, and friends, though I don't believe that is true of anyone. Everyone has something to offer and is capable and worthy of love. Can you share a bit more about what it is that's gotten you down lately?
Have these questions about continuing to live turned into thinking about not living anymore, or hurting yourself? There is absolutely no shame if the answer is yes. It certainly has been for me in the past. If you ever find yourself in a really tight spot and need some quick help (quicker than we can offer here), I would encourage you to call
13 11 14 at any time of the day or night.
We're always here for you on the forums.
Warmly,
Gems

Hi Elliethetired,
so happy to see your post here and what you are going through at the moment and this kind of thoughts is most of human beings question! You are not alone in that moments. Why we are here? What are we doing here? It doesn’t matter if we have good look, good family ,good brain, and ...
Knowing our worth and value is another thing, we are here definitely for valuable reason and we should keep going, we should ask for help if we stuck in our life journey, sometimes we should just be silent and watch our life, sometimes we should try hard and harder. We are part of the story of life and should live naturally like a flower. Give time to your self , enjoy from the little things in your life. I think you are very clever by asking yourself this kind of questions ☺️It means you are going to do change your life for better, you are digging your life deeply, I’m sure you will find the answers soon. Just be calm and look.
wish you the best.

Hi Elliethetired
its an interesting question, and funnily enough was one of my first posts a few years back. A long existential crisis left me asking Who am i? Whats it all about? That kind of thing.
I used to think the answer to the meaning of life was progress, moving forward in understanding. A long road, a lot of thinking, a lot of experiences later, i Will be honest, I havent found the answer yet to the big question. But the question itself leads to other questions.
what do i value in myself?
what do i value in others?
what brings me joy
what do i feel when....
i come from a very religious family, but am not myself religious. There are things i believe in and things i dont. people can tell you what you should think as answers to the questions, but experiences you have and the lessons you learn will lead you to your own conclusion.
Without getting philosophical, Maybe there is no answer to the question. Maybe life just is, and that all there is to it.

Hi elliethetired,
katyinthehamsterwheel posted this on another thread. I thought it pertinent to be here.
“The meaning of life is just to be alive. It is so plain and so obvious and so simple. And yet, everybody rushes around in a great panic as if it were necessary to achieve something beyond themselves”
- Alan Wilson Watts
hope you are going well.
