coping with today

Hi I am new, not much into this but thought I would give it a go, I am finding it very difficult like a lot of people at present, I have been unemployed for a long time and now may be even longer due to unemployment levels rising. I try and manage my depression and anxiety but it is exhausting to try and be positive all the time. I know I am not alone feeling this way but it just feels like you take 2 steps back all the time

Hi md757

Welcome and it is really great that you have found yourself here, to chat, to share how you are feeling and to get some support, especially when engaging with people is not something you are finding my joy in at the moment.

It is a really interesting time and one which we have never had to experience before, so with that comes a whole lot of feelings and emotions too that we have never experienced before. The feeling of hopelessness and helplessness and depression and anxiety and sometimes all these things at once, I hear you say you know you are not alone, which is true, it is somewhat comforting to realize that you are not the only one feeling such things.

With regards to you being unemployed, what sort of work is it that you are interested in doing? What sort of work have you done in the past? I am not really sure what the employment rate will look like after this pandemic, however I would like to think that there will be alot of opportunities for people. These are just my opinions though but I feel like in fact there could be all sorts of new opportunities too as people realize a way to do things differently and perhaps more efficiently now that we have had this time of working differently.

Feeling like you are not making any progress and that every step is met with another two steps in the other direction, that is alot to manage and I am so sorry you are feeling like this. You can share as much about your story as you feel comfortable to here md757, do you have some family or even some friends you can reach out to at this time for some support and some reassurance?

I am not sure if you are currently seeing a doctor for your depression and anxiety, maybe this could be a place to start, to get some support and to see if you need some extra care at this time..what do you think?

It is great to chat to you

Hugs
