Computer Problems

Hey guys.  Whoever can help me.  This is a really weird problem.  Quite often when I'm replying to a post, my computer 'locks up'.  It won't move up or down, the cursor completely disappears.  I've shut down, then re-booted to no avail.  At first I thought it was me, then a friend laughingly suggested 'Divine Intervention'.  It doesn't happen every time, and I never know when it's going to occur.  I can start replying, then I'll scroll to the original letter to make sure of the facts, that's when it happens (if it's going to).  My computer isn't that old and it never happens with emails, just BB.  Has anybody else experienced this?  HELP.

Hi Pipsy

No that hasn't happened to me. I have lost my replies sometimes and its annoying. I find the site is also slow but that might be an indicator of the power it needs to work and if so could be related to your problem....eg not enough RAM or power to operate the BB site??

dear Pipsy, hi, but I'm no no IT expert at all, but I do have problems with my reply being posted before I want it to, it is annoying, and I know what you are talking about.

How about try 'safe-mode', plus I use  a cleaner called 'adwcleaner' which is free so there won't be any benefit for saying their name.

The other things to try is to turn computer off and pull the cord out of your computer, plus ethernet if you use that, plus pull the socket out from power plug, take the cord that goes from computer to modem out from the modem, and there is a reset button, a very small hole that only a pin will go through, push that which will reset your modem, wait 10 seconds and reverse everything.

While you start your pc keep pressing F8 which will put you into safe-mode.

Fingers crossed, otherwise get your supplier (telstra, optus)and get them to look into it, where they may want to use 'logmein' which means that they can take control of your mouse/ computer and look for problems which we don't know about. Geoff. x

Hi Geoff & Tony.  I think the problem with the computer is more the site.  BB gets so many posts, questions and answers, the cursor seems to 'overheat'.  Sometimes there's not too many questions or answers, then the cursor moves quite freely.  As I scroll down the page, the longer the posts, the slower the cursor moves.  I may have to try to 'delete' some of the posts to free the cursor.  I don't know if you've been following some of the posts, but there seems to be a lot of people dealing with narcissism.  The more I learn about this condition, the more I realize I've yet to learn.  I'm hoping some of the people with this condition read some of the posts and it helps them realize how destructive the condition can be.

It's a very sad situation.

Again - thanks for 'being there'.  I really do appreciate your never ending support.

dear Pipsy, have you had a try at 'adwcleaner' where you will have to google it and then download it.

I use it often and Malwarebytes often says that if the problem is not fixed then use 'adwcleaner'. Geoff. x

Hi Pipsy, what browser are you using? Firefox or Chrome are the better ones to use, rather than Internet Explorer.

Unfortunately, when the site was revamped a couple of years ago, the popularity of the forums wasn't foreseen, and the software we are using to run the community isn't coping too well with the ever-increasing traffic. Long-time users are very familiar with the slowness of pages loading, and losing posts with the 'system error' page.

The best I can suggest at this stage is to use this thread to document any particular problems you run into when using the site, so we can continue to pass the feedback on to our web developers to fix things.

Hi Chris B

I have an unusual computer problem. I have just become a new member and twice I have posted in the "Welcome an Introduction" section and twice it has come up with "system error". Neither post has gone through. However I have managed two successful replies ! This is frustrating has I am very keen to introduce myself and get some feedback from people who may be experiencing what I am.

Thanks

Hi Genesis, sorry about that. I have two other posts from you, besides your reply above:

* Your thread Depression is ruining my life

* And a reply in the thread I feel alone

Were there any others?

I would highly recommend writing up your posts in a separate program, like Word, Notes or Notepad, and copying the text across while using the forums. I know it's not ideal, but our developers are unable to explain for us at the moment why the site keeps timing out, it appears to be random. If you have your posts separately written, you can at least attempt to post again if you get the system error.
