Hi all
I have always suffered from ADHD and in the last year have started getting anxiety I am now on various medications for it.
the problem is I am still getting the anxiety every now and then looking for some help as I can't afford to see a psychologist and just as I think I am getting over it, it hits me again

Dear Panther631~
Id like to welcome you here to the forum and thank you for your post. By the sound of it you are facing a problem many of us have had to try to deal with. Anxiety does have a lot of ups and downs and needs a fair amount of effort to keep reasonably under control.
I have anxiety, plus PTSD and bouts of depression, not ADHD, but can tell you some of the things I do, however before that I'd suggest seeing your doctor again and saying that things are not as under control as you would like, see what happens.
I try to do two different sets of things.
The first is to reduce my overall stress levels. When they are down my anxiety is less, and I have fewer 'attacks'. To do this I try to keep to a healthy lifestyle, with regular exercise (I walk), staying away from things I know from the past will trigger me, eating properly and practicing 'sleep hygiene' to get good rest. I take part in my family life and take time to do the things I enjoy and which distract me from everyday life and its hassles (I read).
The other thing is when I'm actually having heightened anxiety - or a panic attack. The panic I try to reduce by breathing control, moving away from the immediate area and remembering I've been there before and come out the other side OK. for excessive worry and my mind going round in circles my first reaction is to do something involving physical movement or exercise. Going for a walk away from the scene helps a lot.
Relying on someone to talk with, who understands and cares, at that time is pretty good too. I use an app for my smartphone called Smiling Mind. I use it regularly anyway as part of lifestyle but particularly when being overwhelmed by anxious thoughts. It is quite hard to get used to, but I found it a great help.
As I'm sure you realize there are many who want to share their coping mechanisms, have a browse here in this Forum to see, you might like to start with:
Forums / Anxiety / SELF HELP TIPS FOR MANAGING ANXIETY
which is full of tips. Looking in The Facts menu above will give more info on anxiety too.
I'd really like to know what helps and how you get on

Hi Tony thanks for the complement should be more of this. I am a positive thinking person if somebody does a good job let them know if there don't I just don't go back. There is plenty of places were I can spend my money and have a pleasant experience. Poor bugger's the next to go by the way side LOL.
