What about ECT.

I am getting to the point where I have struggled with major depression for more than 20 years. I am struggling with thoughts. I might give treatment one last try. I have already tried pretty much everything except ECT. Has anyone had any experience with ECT?

Ultimately, I am just so bloody sad. If ECT could potentially help me feel better, then I am willing to give it a go.

Hi Pandemica,

I've not had ECT - but I'm sure it's not at all like it used to be, not like it was portrayed in certain movies.

I'm thinking you have a Doctor you speak to regularly? That person whould be the best person to talk to about this. Ask them all the questions you have, write them down, to be sure you do't forget any.

I really can't say more than this.

All the best,

Hi Pandemica,

I’m sorry you are feeling this way.

I struggled with thoughts aswell I was diagnosed with OCD…. Obsessive compulsive disorder.

I did metacognitive therapy this therapy gave me all the tools I needed to break free of OCD.

I’ve been recovered for four and a half years.

Hi,

I'm pretty against ect as many people report memory issues afterwards.

I think there are more ways to process trauma and pain without using that method.

Hello Pandemica, it's not easy to comment on this as we aren't doctors, however, I was very close to having it as I was desperate but didn't.

I know someone very close to me who has had several ECT's and what she has told me is that it deletes parts of her memory, but she is still taking medication as she has OCD as well as anxiety.

Geoff.
