Hi All,
After some persuasion by a fellow poster I thought it might be a good idea to share our stories of " When therapy sessions go Wrong" or are just downright funny and/ or awkward. Surely I cant be the only one that has had these encounters. Mind you I have been in therapy for many years and only recently have found some of these episodes amusing.
So if you have reached that place where you can have a bit of a laugh at yourself or maybe its the therapist who's done something strange please share ,
So I'll start with a couple of mine. Just a couple of small teasers to get the ball rolling
Early in my therapy I was totally embarrassed to share anything , and could only talk if my psych turned his chair around. Now he was only a short fellow and the chair had a high back, so all was good and I started to unload. My psych was quiet and I thought listening intently until I heard the unmistakeable sounds of snoring! Yep my deepest darkest secrets had put my psych to sleep! UMM had a lot of explaining and grovelling to do.
Another time I became so paranoid that my secrets were going to be discovered by people that worked in the medical offices -other docs, receptionists etc so during one session I grabbed his paper and pen and refused to let him write any notes of our session! Of course I didn't think till after I went that of course he would write after I left - probably best I don't know what he wrote after that session!
So that's it , if you have some stories I'm sure others would love to hear the lighter side of therapy .
Take Care

Yep,
laughter is the best medicine....
why stop at gas masks..., hang the expense break out the emergency shutes.. I've been giving the baked beans a hammering as in eating them not shooting them out, more out of convenience, binding me up more then anything,
cheers LM

Hi everyone,
Thinking of you Stressless and facing your psychiatrist today. I hope it goes alright. I suppose even if you do throw up at least you can add to the stories here. Seriously though I hope he took his head out of his butt and apologised.
Got a few contributions from my last few sessions (yeah definately cursed to humiliate myself). I swear there is something about the lack of eye contact that just makes me blurt stuff out.
I told the psychiatrist off for not making himself a cup of tea or coffee. Seriously?! He sat down and I was like why do you never have a coffee? Surely that is a perk of the job? I waffle... You sip coffee... Everybody wins. He laughed! I turned around and told him I'm not joking it's bloody cold and everyone is sick so take better care of yourself. Oh bloody hell!
It gets worse...
Then I cried. Again. And swore like a sailor. Again. Then got a bit angry and told him I couldn't give a flying rats about knowing my biological grandparents. He made the choking on a fly noise again. And it only got worse from there.
He made an interesting comment though. Said I'm so used to being ignored unless I'm in extreme distress that I almost HAVE to use strong language, strong imagery to get the point across that I'm upset.
That and that I like to take things that upset me and make light of them. Maybe that's why I love this thread so much.
Told the psychiatrist that

Hi all
Regular posters here will know I have plenty of noteworthy episodes over my many years of therapy .
Yesterday was no exception 😱
This was my first appt since the "incident ".
It was a beautiful day , sunny , fresh and a little breezy . I was wearing a lovely long knitted scarf fashionably slung loosely around neck.
As I approached doc's offices , a lady with a pram was exiting through the auto sliding door. I stepped aside politely to allow her room .
Once she was safely through I stepped inside-
what I failed to notice was my beautiful scarf had snagged on a bush when I moved aside .
You can now visualise the following which incidentally happened in slow motion and simultaneously.
Two or three steps in door begins to close - no worries I'm in .
Oh no! Dragon lady is at reception! Ok be cool . Two steps to desk and I'm no longer moving - in fact I'm going backwards . WTH ?
"Dragon lady" looks up with fixed smile to greet until she sees it's me and an ever so slight narrowing of her eyes began and then ...
She points , I turn with difficulty, to see my beautiful scarf being chewed up by the auto door. My first instinct is to yank scarf free, but remembering how long it took me to find just the right colour and texture I did the only thing I could .
" OMG help me . My scarf is stuck! " I screamed- insert swear words here.
For a moment nothing happened. As my scarf tightened around my neck, my life flashed before my eyes. How ironic if this is how it ends.
Contemplating my mortality I failed to notice Dragon lady had leaped the counter and was approaching me with scissors. She was going to have her revenge. Too many witnesses surely ?
The door was making a weird noise or was that me ? Time stood still as Dragon lady lurched forward a manic look on her face and then ...
She started hacking at my scarf !!
" Noooooo ! " too late . My beautiful scarf was now in two pieces. Half still stuck in door and the other half had taken on the look of a balaclava as it inched up my neck.
Silence in waiting room was now at fever pitch. Then I did the only thing I could do . I walked up to door and pressed big RED button , yes a release button , just for future reference, retrieved remains of scarf , turned and strode to nearest seat.
Casually I selected a Motoring magazine , casually flipping pages and prayed that a giant sink hole would swallow the whole building .
Unfortunately this was just the beginning

Hi Stressless and All,
Loved the story Stressless.
Sorry about the scarf though. Is it repairable? If it is a knitted one, ask some kind old lady somewhere if they can fix it for you. It is amazing what some people can do.
Oh dear. It does sound like the rest of your time there did go so well.
Hope you are okay now!
Cheers from Mrs. D.

I'm wondering why didn't the dragon lady just press the big red button?

Hey Johnno
Absolutely spot on analogy.
Yes it's great if we can have a laugh at ourselves.
Thanks for sharing
