Yes I know the dangers and yes I would rather eliminate my panic attacks through natural means such as mindfulness and meditation. However I am 50 years of age and after suffering for over 30 years with this wretched illness I do feel that tranquillisers are a better alternative to suffering with anxiety - if only to get you on an even keel, so that you can practice more 'healthier' techniques in combating anxiety. There is no need to suffer when there is medication available.

Hello Punk Rock Warlord, I know what you mean. I struggle to understand the stigma that comes with medication, you will see a lot of threads on here about it, people who can't accept that they need to take medication, as if it's a personal failing. They wouldn't blink an eye if they had to take it for a heart condition. It just shows how strong the stigma is.

I agree there's nothing noble in suffering through something for no reason. And I have found that medication is the thing that helps me stay on an even keel so I can do those more "natural" things for staying well, as well as helping me make better choices day to day: eating well, exercising... and then it becomes virtuous circle. If my moods are so far out of control that I can't practice my normal techniques or make good decisions, then my health starts to spiral down very quickly.
