I moved and settled on the other side of the world and i need help finding help

Long story short. Have struggled with depression since is was a teenager. Was diagnosed by family doctor in my mid twenties by GP, told him he didn't know what he was talking about and shouldn't throw the 'D' word around willy nilly like that though deep down knew he was right but decided i was better and stronger than that. Now in my early thirties and realizing it's not a matter of being better or stronger……it's a matter of acknowledging and doing better (for yourself). Problem is i moved and settled on the other side of the world and i need help finding 'help'! I need to know who and where i can go to find help online like a councilor who does 'Skype' sessions?

FYI: I moved to a tiny town in the north of Italy and no english speaking councilors here. And even if i can speak Italian now feels much better expressing yourself in your own language!

Hi Jazzi,

It sounds like you have done a wonderful job all on your own in righting the ship, but still need some help to keep it that way. I completely understand. Like you, I moved across the globe in my mid 20's, went through some intensely difficult times and over time, pulled it together. All the better for it mind you, but it was a challenge!

Obviously, there are forums like this to get your support in a common language. You can always call the YBB Helpline from overseas (and if I'm wrong on this, you may want to send admin an email and get their input, but I assume it is possible). You may also look online for local groups of a different genre, whether it be socializing over coffee or wine, or any other activity (just to get some social activity in - sometimes we meet some phenomenal people in places we least expect).

Either way, come back and chat to us anytime. It is a wonderful community and there will be many willing to support and share stories with you. I wish you well.
