hi guys so ive really been struggling with my mental illness (i have 4) and ive recently disclosed another event as well. ive been told i should jsut get over it and just dont worry about it and im finding it really hard to 'just get over' im just wondering what others opinions are... do you think im just complaining?ive also just discovered that i have a few physical health issues to deal with such as scoliosis, glasses, and a few of my main ligaments have been torn and have never been fully corrected as i never got a boot or anything to support it so now im stuck having a few torn ligamanents that will probably never heal so the pain that i feel will be constant unfortunately.so i was just trying to have a conversation in general about my injury and treatment etc and she just rolled her eyes at me and said that i complain to much.. this is kinda the first times heard about it as i try not to complain about anything even when im struggling the most. even in my full panic state she usually jsut ignores me and then gets the craps at me...do you think im complaining?

startingnew, so the person who is saying to get over it, take them out on a boat, tell them to get in the water fully dressed and when they start to go under, tell them to just swim (joking of course). Would this person tell another to just get over it if the other had a broken leg? Wouldn't have thought so. That is really poor of that person. You have (i assume) diagnosed mental health illnesses. They really need to get some education and stop stigmatising you.

You are not whinging by any stretch of the imagination. You cannot just "get over it" or "just think happy thoughts", it is not possible.

Are you being treated? Have you been diagnosed? How long have you had these conditions?

I'm going to sound pretty harsh here but that person doesn't sound like a friend to you, sounds pretty awful what they are saying. Instead of caring and helping you, they are doing the complete opposite.

There are so many people in these forums that will back my words up and with 1 in 3 woman and 1 in 5 men having some kind of anxiety throughout their lives, people are kidding themselves if they think people that live with mental injuries or illnesses are weak. Throw in that 1 in 7 have depression then there is PTSD, OCD, PND and so many others, the reality is that most people will have a mental health episode in their lives.

You are not alone throughout this, i can assure you that.

Is there any chance of corrective surgery for the ligaments?

Mark.

Hi Startingnew

You are not complaining at all...You are a strong person who is trying to get better and that makes you amazing 🙂

Just so we can give other new members some space can we leave this post as your main post? Just so people respond to you in the one post which also makes it easier for you to reply to people too!

If you can stick with this thread that would help everybody

my kindest

Paul

I guess so but they are 2 different topics

Hi mark

Yes ive been diagnosed. Im seeing a psych and ive had these diagnosed since january this year though ive had them for 2-3 yrs just never realised what i was dealing with

its an old injury that was never treated properly from the start as i just thought it was a sprain. But i can ask... im trying out different supports at the moment through health professionals so hopefully i can find one that works well without surgery

No worries at all startingnew 🙂

Its great that you are on the forums!

I have had anxiety & depression for a long time.....ugh!..I hear you loud and clear

my kind thoughts

Paul

Yea it really is horrible to deal with

21 years on the same AD....but the anxiety does lessen which is the good news......

I suppose I am fortunate as I have a crackerjack GP who cares a lot about his patients with GAD/Depression

Im really sorry that you are in such a dark place though.....especially with the added pain and anguish of physical problems as well....I cant even begin to understand what you are going through...

I really wish my anxiety woild reduce or some of my physical conditions would give in and just get better.

Life is verydifficult for me and i think half of the time is life really meant to be like this? is it really worth living anymore?

startingnew, have you tried out mindfulness to help with the anxiety? I have used the app, "Smiling Mind" for a long time now and has helped heaps. It is guided so you learn as you do it.

Well worth a try if you are not doing it now.

Mark.
