Husband with low testosterone and depression

Hi all,
First post here and seeking some advice.
My husband prevents with all associated symptoms of low testosterone.
This includes terrible sleep patterns, lethargy, lack of concentration, weight gain, loss of muscle strength and recent severe depression.
His initial test results came back low (8) but apparently they will only commence injections if you are 6 or below.

He is really struggling and after a trip to and endochronologist has been left extremely deflated, disheartened and further depressed.

Has anyone undergone any type of testosterone treatmenr and found it to be beneficial.

It's crazy that there can be a large range of normality, but each should be assesssed on its own merits.

Thanks
Z

Hi and welcome to beyond blue.

I am not qualified to talk about anything medically but from my own and other experiences that visits to a specialist can be difficult, or in your words deflating and disheartening. As an aside - my son takes medications for sleep issues, but is not "sick enough" for that medication to be subsidized.

When you mentioned the symptoms however some of that applied to me .... sleep patterns, lethargy, lack of concentration, depression. For me the sleep patterns affected the other things so getting that right was the first step.Of course, I do not know the full story and not saying that would work for you, but something to consider perhaps.

I hope you will come back and share more of your story.

Hi Z. Martin

In mentioning such symptoms, the first thing that sprung to mind was to ask if your husband has ever been tested for sleep apnea or other sleep related issues. I see Tim has also mentioned the sleep side of things.

Wondering if the GP or specialist has encouraged you to look into natural ways for your husband to boost testosterone levels. Definitely further depressing to be told 'No, sorry, can't help. Off you go'. If this is the case, it's pretty much like going back to square one, with no management plan, just a lot of questions.

Take care 🙂
