Hi everyone.  I am just wanting some advice if possible.

Four months ago, my mental health declined rapidly and I ended up in hospital for 5 days as a suicide prevention.  I have had 2 care plans done. The problem I am having is that due to being socially isolated and not having a support system,  I  am not improving.  I  was sent home with the plan to see my gp and a clinical Psychologist.  Problem is,  I am to unwell most days to manage getting myself to any type of appointment which may help me. As a result,  my mental health is still very bad and I am constantly terrified.  I  want to do the work to try and get well, but don't know how to make that happen.  Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

hello and welcome.

I'm so sorry you're going through such a difficult time with your mental health. It takes tremendous courage to reach out and ask for help and when you also feel isolated and lacking a support system can make the struggle even more daunting.

Not sure if this is possible for you, but I chat with my psychologist and psychiatrist via telehealth. I have my reasons for this. I wonder if this is a possibility for you?

Or how would it be if someone were to be with you at your appointments? (at least in the waiting room.)

Lastly, I have also have a safety plan ... and I have lifeline and 000 as the last support options. What I am trying to say is that lifeline is a space you could call when things are grim for you.

'Bridges' or some other community support service might be able to provide transport and other support services to assist:

https://www.bridgeshcc.org.au

You could also contact your local council to see if they offer something similar.

Not sure about psychologists, but having someone to advocate for you such as EACH (requires referral) or equivalent might be a good place to start:

GP - a long shot, but home visits can be arranged by some, or a locum instead.

Contact your clinic to inquire.

If your GP has been notified by the hospital, any referrals might not need an appointment (?)

Someone should at least be able to point you in the right direction.

Thanks so much for your reply.  I  will take on board what you have suggested.

Thank you so much for the ideas. I will definitely work on getting to my gp to see about further assistance,  such as the ones you have suggested.
