Hi everyone, 38F here living in Brisbane.
Im looking to connect with others around the same age for support and chat etc.
I've always struggled with mental health (depression, anxiety and much more), but 5 years ago was diagnosed with the same disease that killed my dad, his mum and his brothers.
If I let it go till the end I have about 15-20 years, but by then I'll be a vegetable so will seek suicide/self assisted in around 5-10 years depending.
Recently been very depressed and thinking of suicide despite being on a cocktail of meds for support. Would really love to connect with those that can offer and support or friendship 🙂
I believe in God.
Thanks and peace to you all 🌷

Hello Dear mydopecat,
We would like to give you very warm and caring welcome to the forums..
I really am so sorry to hear about the disease you are diagnosed with...
I do also believe in God...and will say prayers for you if that’s okay with you...
Science has come a long way and is still advancing every year...with new discoveries for cures and medicine to help fight diseases....Please don’t ever give up on hope, it’s hard to do that, but theirs a true saying I like...”Where their is breath their is life, where their is life their is hope”..
These forums are a beautiful place to reach out to for support and care...and friendships...I met* a person here on these forums a few years ago...and I value her as she has become a bbff...I would also love to get to know you better and be here for you both in support and friendship even though I have children older then your age....
Here for you mydopecat, with my support and care to chat about whatever your feeling like talking about...
My kindest wishes and hopes for you..
Grandy..

Thank you so much for your reply. Of course I would love you to pray for me! The disease has no treatment or cure so it's all anyone can do really 🙂
I actually don't care about dying or having a shorter life, it's just the lead up to it, as it's pretty ugly.
Fortunately I don't have kids to worry about - a major blessing!
My main stress comes from how I will end it, and whether I will be allowed to have an assisted suicide .
Can I ask your reason for being on these forums 🙂
Thank you again and best wishes
M

The numbers Sophie has given you has (so far at least) literally saved my life.
I strongly encourage you to use them if necessary as the support you receive is simply amazing.

Hello Dear M,
Sorry for the late reply...I do volunteer work at a charity shop Monday and Tuesdays....It a reason to leave my home...at least 2 days a week....
I first came on these forums in 2017 after my partner passed away from cancer....I was married to him for 38years....that’s 38 years of all kinds of abuse and a totally controlled life....I knew nothing about life or how to be independent...After venturing out after I spent a few months inside my home I was shopping and had a break down inside the shop, then ended up in hospital for 6 weeks and diagnosed with PTSD, depression, anxiety and a couple more labels*...
These forums and the amazing people that helped support and showed me so much care, is one of the reasons I’m still breathing today....I decided to give back and try to help other community members and volunteered here as a Community Champion....which has given me a feeling of purpose in my life...
Do you practice any mindfulness or meditation at all? I know it’s not for everyone, I just like to sit outside and watch nature...I live rural NSW and am lucky enough to have cows as my front neighbours and a huge gum tree a few steps from my front gates...I do like to watch the clouds through the day and the stars at night...I feel closer to our father and the universe...
If it’s okay...no need to answer M....do you have hobbies or things you like to do...or do you have any pets...1 live with my 2 fur girls..mum and daughter Maltese x Yorkshire...
Looking forward to hearing from you..no pressure dear M..only when you feel up to it...
Kind thoughts of peace and serenity..lovely M..
Grandy..
