Words of comfort, encouragement and wisdom

To all the beautiful people 🌞

Words placed in a particular order can have a profound effect on us.

Words can bring us a moment of comfort, give us a different perspective, or change the course of our thinking and outlook entirely.

I would like this to be a space where we share quotes that have meaning to us or that have the potential to bring some comfort or encouragement to somebody, even if just for the moment in which they are reading it.

I will start.

Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, "I will try again tomorrow." - Mary Anne Radmacher

Go gently with yourselves lovely people.

I know there are some avid gardeners on the forums who find comfort and self care by growing flowers, veggies and other plants. I hope the following quotes give you a small sense of comfort and validation 🙂

Show me your garden, provided it be your own, and I will tell you what are you like.

- Alfred Austin

I want it said of me by those who knew me best, that I always plucked a thistle and planted a flower where I thought a flower would grow.

- Abraham Lincoln

No occupation is so delightful to me as the culture of the earth, and no culture comparable to that of the garden.

- Thomas Jefferson

"Only when we are brave enough to explore the darkness will we discover the infinite power of our light."

"Vulnerability is the birthplace of innovation, creativity, and change. "

I can only control what is in my control and not by the current events.

Deep breath every day from the stomach (is brilliant for anxiety)

Decrease social media time gradually

Distract your self from disappointment. Garden, wash the car, walk, stretch, have a massage

Without experiencing adversity, one would never appreciate the gift of life. I guess that's why mountain climbers climb, and thrill seekers seek. But for some of us, adversity comes knocking with an invitation to embrace life's challenges - what we ultimately discover may be greater than the fear of what we would rather avoid.

Hello everyone...

“You can search throughout the entire universe for someone who is more deserving of your love and affection than you are yourself, and that person is not to be found anywhere. You yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe deserve your love and affection.”

– Buddha

is that a quotation and if so who said it. I for one think I can appreciate the gift of life without adversity. I appreciated by lovely home Nd bookshop everyday and was thznkful. When the bushfires destroyed them both I did not appreciate gift of life as I already did.

I think we can embrace life’s challenges without adversity.

why must we have to experience bad things to appreciate or experience good things..?

only my opinion and for some the quote will have meaning. For me maybe too close and sensitive.

Hi Quirky,

Thank you so much for raising this - I am glad you have pondered its message. I only quote myself from my experiences (so I can always refer to the source, and avoid copyright infringement!).

If it weren't for gravity, would you ever be strong?

If not for failure, could you truly feel sympathy?

If not for hurt, what reference is there to love?

If you lived in a bubble, would you be content?

If I lose a hand, how much more I treasure the other.

If I lose my eyes, how much more grateful I am for my ears.

When under a load, my muscles improve.

When faced with strife, my faith in others is restored.

When staring fate in the eye, the more I value my next breath.

Best wishes, Quirky.

Regards,

t.

thanks for your reply.
I will agree to disagree. I don’t believe you have to experience loss or pain to appreciate something.
I respect your faith and your belief.

I prune my trees with gusto - they hate me every day;

But when gales come a raging, there is nought from them to say.

Their strength is now beneath them, not flayling all about;

Happy trees have I to share the love, without a doubt.
