Who else likes gardening?

Hi everyone

I hope you're staying well today.

Who else likes gardening? I would love to connect with people here who are happy to share their gardening adventures.

For me I know that gardening helped heal my soul during tough times. I hope it will again.
Then with other things going on, it became a jungle.
I'm part way into rediscovering it again and doing A LOT of hard yakka atm, when I am motivated.

I have new dreams and ideas to put into the many bare places, as I remove thickets of lantana etc. This will all be on a tight budget and I'm ok with that.

I want to create a peaceful place where I can be.
I would like to grow food again (tell 'er she's dreamin' atm lol).
I would like to re-establish my worm farms and compost heaps.
Autumn is such a beautiful time of the year in the garden.

I'm 'alone' in my gardening journey and would love to share and hear about other's gardening antics. Hopefully we can troubleshoot any issues in our gardens and talk about any healing we're feeling too. There's a lot of knowledge we can share. I hope this thread can brighten your day!

Thanks MARK!

I guess I could keep them in a pot for a few years?

PS: I HOPE I can find someone who has a healthy mulberry, our area's gorgeous old shacks are being knocked down for mega mansions.... sigh.... that's where all the beautiful mango trees are too.

Hi Em the Mulberries root pretty quick and you should be able to plant one in the ground from pot in 12 months time.

Great thanks Mark. It's too early to get one atm, I need to wait until my huge lilly pilly dies off.

You're up early on a Sunday! I got to sleep in thank goodness, one of my children ditched their early Sunday morning work shift. He worked too many shifts this week and with school, he ran himself into the ground - again.

It's raining here so we're off to the shopping centre to get some warm clothes for the kids. No gardening today!

I'll have to fill my green bin before Tuesday! Can't wait to see the piles of branches go down noticeably.

Hopefully on Friday we get to buy the Go-pro camera and start videoing for our Sustainable Gardening Vlog. One of my adult children wants to do this with me and she only wants to video on a Go-pro. Sighhh the younger generations and their technology. lol.

Hi Mark

Yeah we had stacks of rain over the weekend! I like that, it helps fill up my water tanks.

I can hear the birds bathing in our inside out boat. The water is INSIDE the little row boat lol. We have frogs in there too, so it's cute.

I finished my psych homework and it was rugged. I have my session via Zoom this afternoon and I need to expend some energy before that. I'm going to take my bluetooth speaker into the front garden and BOOM some Beyonce while I cut up branches for the green bin.

I'm sure my plants LOVE Beyonce lol!

Happy gardening!

Hi Em i did some pruning and pruned the big tree at the front half down. You wont notice in summer where i pruned. As well as a vine that keeps taking over.I thinking of even chopping it out one day.I shifted one rose that was growing in the wrong spot and have another one to shift plus a couple of fruit trees a well.

Happy gardening,

Mark.

Dear Mark

WOW what a lot of hard work you're doing in your garden!

I bet it's looking more like you want it?

If I'm doing anything in my garden atm it's dreary old maintenance.... boring lol.
I raked a whole section of leaves in the back yard and piled some similar length sticks together.
I had lots of bare soil after removing the lantana so I've let weeds grow to nourish and protect the soil. I oulled some of the larger weeds out to allow some grass to move in. It's getting there.

I need a garden fix! Hopefully next week I MIGHT get into the garden sometimes. I hope so.

Something "more important" is always cropping up atm and I'm glad to get these other huge things done, but it's not quite the same as getting my hands dirty in the garden. I miss it.

Maybe with school holidays and no driving kids to school and back up to 4 times a day, there'll be more time for gardening. We'll see!

Hi Em I ate some of the sweet potato last night and it was delicious.I have no secret to how they got so big.I just planted them in the usual way with some horse manure.I wasn't expecting them to get that big.
