What are you capable of?

It amuses me when athletes or past leaders say "you can do anything if you put your mind to it".

We are all built differently. How many of us could achieve a gold medal at the olympics?

We should however, aim for our own gold medal. To achieve what is within our own capabilites plus just a little bit more.

One problem with this is reaching for this mammoth target...its easier to take the easy road...but if you focus you can achieve what is your very best and what flows from that is confidence in spades.

Dont compare yourself to anyone else, they are not you. Your competition is yourself, the bed, the couch, your comfort zone, your doomsdayers...

So you tried and you feel you failed. Like dieting you return to the challenge and try again and again...and you never give up.

Thats your gold medal. Your dignity of trying to reach your capabilites to the max.

Nothing more...

Perhaps we need to be thinking more What is important enough to ME to push myself to overcome any limitations. For example my attempts to learn to touch type were so bad I had to give up. I now use 2 fingers & look at the keyboard & managed to complete a university degree typing all my assignments this way soI have succeeded in what matters to me even if others laugh at my typing skills.

I can't cope with bushfires due to incident as a child. After much counselling I have come to accept that no amount of therapy is going to change my reaction in the heat of the moment Staying only puts me & everyone else at risk because I'm unlikely to remain calm enough to do whatever is required to stay safe. Instead I need to leave early.

Too often we compare ourselves with others & try to do things like they do but we need to accept ourselves as an individual & identify what we really want & work on that rather than wasting time pushing ourselves to do things we are not really interested in & then unlikely to succeed.
