Walking Shoes - Walking and Other Exercise

Hey to anyone reading this.

Last night I had an idea about starting a new thread about exercise especially walking. I am aware that walking is very beneficial for our mental, emotional and physical well being. And by actually doing it....well it can make a huge difference to how we cope with the storms that we face in life.

OK, I am not real good at disciplining myself to walk, and have to really push myself to do it. And sometimes it is even hard to leave this bedroom. Anyway I am not a beginner walker, as I have stuck to sort of a plan before. So I know that it does make me feel somewhat better. But I only stayed on the plan for a couple of months, then gave up.....for whatever reason. So here I am again wanting desperately to not fail this time.

So I guess this thread is for anyone that does walk, anyone that is struggling to walk because of depression or anxiety issues. And anyone else really......

I am unsure of the outcome of all this. But my ideas included: Sharing about things we have found out about exercise especially about walking. Writing down the reasons that one would chose to walk ( like something to help motivate). Being accountable in same way. Sharing about the places where we actually do walk, like the beach, gym, around the block, with the dog, out to the clothesline and back. And any other useful tips that could help others. So here we go......

Went for a walk again on Breakwall Path.

Ah not long now Mrs D until you can get out there and walk more.

Never tried Golden syrup dumplings, but they sound sweet.

Hi All,

Didn't do much of anything yesterday. Lining up today for another Covid test so that could take a couple of hours or all day. I know I am nearly at the end of this, I am over it!

Shelley, yes, Golden Syrup dumplings are sweet so I put in less sugar and more lemon juice.

I will be looking forward to a longer walk outside of our town on Monday!

Today I went walking on the trails through Water Reserve. I walked with my sister. I don't notice a huge amount of my surroundings because we chat a lot. But that is good, because it helps to hang out with someone else in other ways.

Tonight around 9pm I went walking on Breakwater Path with my son. It is very different at night walking there. A tiny bit of the path is lit up. The rest was extremely dark, so we walked via a torch light. The night breeze felt good

Good to know you have been out walking, nice you can have some company as well.

I spent most of yesterday just going around and around in my mind. Not the kind of exerices I need.

Oh Mrs D, definitely can relate to the going around and around in the mind. That is what is happening to me this morning. Sort of felt funny the way you said it though. It seems like exercise (the going around and around) but it can feel head tired doing it. Just want the thoughts to be quite for a while. Maybe sing for a bit, an uplifting and encouraging song. Fill our minds with music and praise. I am going to sing " Raise a Hallelujah". Do you want to virtually sing it with me?
