I have been struggling eating and eating healthy foods over the last couple of weeks. I really do not want to go back further to how I use to eat, that is eating junk food, takeaways, copious amounts of chocolate, processed junk and comfort eating.
Finding it challenging to stay motivated to actually prepare what I know helps me feel better mentally, emotionally and physically. Plus I have been feeling overwhelmed with other stuff happening in my life, which somehow makes it more challenging. The old unhealthy comfort eating thing is coming back. And I think I am getting concerned and scared about that. I so much do not want to go back to how I use to be. I was so sick. Plus I now have some physical things not right in my body , so I need to be more careful and mindful of what I eat. ( Pre cancer cells , high blood pressure )
I was eating really well since Febuary of this year, it’s just the last couple of weeks I haven’t.
So I would like to use this thread to help me be accountable to Beyond Blue people. So like a diary where I can post and report what I eat. And also any healthy eating tips, motivating strategies to help eat better or anything related to healthy eating for our bodies including our mental health.

well done Shelll
pineapple is so yum I enjoy it too and have some for tomorrow
Maybe I will try a smoothie tomorrow also - I like what you said about spinach beore kale. I don't like kale too much tbh.
I've been snacking on pink lady apples atm, really crisp and yum.
I sprained a joint so have this awkward pain in my lower back and thighs, i'm sitting here with a heat pack and it's really helping me also just to relax a bit.
I do eat late at night sometimes when i can't sleep. I find milk late at night very much a comfort food as well.
My eating is pretty disordered. But I'm trying to do like you and celebrate the healthy foods that I still can enjoy.

Oh yes pineapple is definitely yum. I buy frozen for smoothies. And the canned "dole" brand. Sometimes fresh as well.
Love pink lady apples as well. Great choice of yours. They are great to munch on.
Heat packs and in my case a hot water bottle do feel nice and soothing and yeah it does relax you. I hope that pain heals real soon. Do you take curcumin or tumeric for the inflammation
I seem to be struggling with how to write this post. I am sorry Sleepy. Its not sort of flowing.

Feeling scattered in my thoughts. I don't think I feel overly sad. Feel just neutral I guess. I did wrestle with unhealthy food cravings. I was out alone driving, so thoughts came.... McDonald's, then those crunchy chips from the takeaway. Before that was a cream bun. But that desire did not last long. I did not get any. So I guess I feel thankful for that.
Breakfast.... Scrambled tofu and smoothie (pineapple, mango, orange, spinach, coconut water)
Lunch... none
Snack... Iced chocolate, banana, 1kg grapes

Hi Shelll
I like your posts
Like what you wrote about having the cravings but watching them pass. I am sometimes not that strong, but good feeling isn't it, to see that cravings can loosen...
the coconut water in the smoothie is a good one!
i bought a bircher museli that requires you to soak it overnight in coconut water, i like that as an ingredient...
How are you feeling at the moment? How was your day?

Hey Sleepy, I am actually sitting in the car, waiting for someone to go into the shop. The desire to just pop in there and buy you know what is strong. So thought I would come onto BB and write for a while. But gee it is challenging, I can almost taste the flavour of the snack chocolate I like.
But it.....

Just arrived home, I was driving so yeah.. I am here to finish what I was going to say. Nope its gone.. No idea what it was, all cool.
Conclusion I did not race into the store. The person came out pretty quick like. So worked out good. My opportunity went. But thankful it did.
Oh just noticed your post there. And yes that is what it is like a hug from the unhealthy junk. Thankyou for understanding. Thing is its not supposed to be stuffed into the space in our hearts that is meant for love. Wish I could forever remember this.
Oh bircher muesli... That sounds like a quick no fuss breakfast Sleepy. It has tiny bits of dried fruit in it doesn't it?
I hear you when you talk about the disordered eating. It will all work out for you.

Feel extremely full.
Dinner... Roast potatoes, roast sweet potatoes, green beans, cauliflower with a cheese tasting cashew sauce.
Another iced chocolate.

Hey Shelll
yes food hugs aren't real hugs i agree... i've sometimes in my worst moments rushed to the chocolate. i felt happy to see how you went today with the challenges you felt...
Today was much better than yesterday food wise! I think this thread has helped me a fair bit. I prepared some foods the night before, had cut up fruit and a sandwich in the fridge which made it easier during the day.
I did have some hot chips with rosemary but better it was during the day and not in a binge fashion at night.
The spices were pretty deliscious!
Managed to eat some asparagus and vegies today as well.
Last night I made an apple crumble with a health recipe and I ate it today for breakfast. Its just apples, oats, maple syrup and vanilla with a little oil to hold the crumble together. It was a rough day but my eating was a little better
