I have been struggling eating and eating healthy foods over the last couple of weeks. I really do not want to go back further to how I use to eat, that is eating junk food, takeaways, copious amounts of chocolate, processed junk and comfort eating.
Finding it challenging to stay motivated to actually prepare what I know helps me feel better mentally, emotionally and physically. Plus I have been feeling overwhelmed with other stuff happening in my life, which somehow makes it more challenging. The old unhealthy comfort eating thing is coming back. And I think I am getting concerned and scared about that. I so much do not want to go back to how I use to be. I was so sick. Plus I now have some physical things not right in my body , so I need to be more careful and mindful of what I eat. ( Pre cancer cells , high blood pressure )
I was eating really well since Febuary of this year, it’s just the last couple of weeks I haven’t.
So I would like to use this thread to help me be accountable to Beyond Blue people. So like a diary where I can post and report what I eat. And also any healthy eating tips, motivating strategies to help eat better or anything related to healthy eating for our bodies including our mental health.

i was inspired by MM's use of coconut and listing of its health benefits and tried some coconut yoghurt for a change
It's nice and simple tasting I enjoyed it.
Had some strawberries and yoghurt today.
Might make a little cheese platter with some pickles and boil up some corn
Cut up some vegies to go with it. x

I'm on target with my weight loss of 0.7kgs/week/24 weeks ( 6 mnths) even though I ate what I thought was a lot y'day.
Btw my first weeks weigh in is tomorrow since I started on 1/1/21. But I've been weighing myself everyday to see the fluctuations.
I woke up hungry ( Yes) and I've only had;
- chicken,rice,corn
- orange,apple,carrot, cucumber,ginger juice
And it's nearly 2:30pm
( Double yes)
I haven't felt the need to eat a lot today. I think my blood sugar has been pretty level and I've had more energy than usual. Feeling good!
😁

Hi Monks I thought that yesterday when u wrote that you were very hungry - that maybe it ebbs and flows....
So it's all good
Ur doing it. The corn and meat sounds delish
Love corn. I had avo on toast today, a chai latte, grapes and strawberries, a coconut yoghurt, crackers and dips.
Craving protein might eat a veggie burger or something - would be nice. Tend to keep a few in my freezer so hoopefully I'll have something. Also like to make a corn and avacado salad which is nice. So incorporating the corn from ur day 🙂

Hi MM,
Thanks for complimenting my profile pic (yours is super cute tho). I chose it because it is a sunrise - a new day/a new bright future ahead 🙂 No more toxic ppl hurting and harming me - just positive ppl - like you guys!
Your food and juices/smoothies continue to sound nutritious and yum (bonus!). I agree with Sleepy that hunger comes and goes - some days so hungry, no matter how much I fill-up. Other days could easily go without food. I can't even see a pattern with me - it is just random.. Like yesterday, didn't want any breakfast/lunch - but made self have some blueberries and strawberries. Then today - hungry at breakfast/lunch - so had a bowl of bran, chia, coconut, nuts/seeds, sultanas and some blueberries and raspberries with milk.
Your food sounds so healthy and yum too Sleepy. You've given me ideas to try. We are doing better with it I can tell 🙂

Feeling inspired and encouraged after reading in here. Thankyou MM, Sleepy, Golden and Tayla.
Sleepy you seem to be choosing lots of foods with nutrients. Are you going better then before do you think? I so much want to have a go at a cheese board, it just sounds so pretty and a fun thing to do. Never done one. I will need to come up with something other than say dairy cheese. Maybe some nice dips. Um it's making me think. Seen some cute cheese boards at Harris farm markets. And I do hear you about lots of dishes piled up in the kitchen. And stuff disorganised in there. It feels so overwhelming to me to see that at my place. I haven't worked out how to keep on top of that. Anyway think you are going great loving yourself by choosing some foods that nourish your body.
MM always like your determination and drive. And even your experimenting side of you. I haven't made potato salad as yet. But still keen to. And you too are eating so much nutritious foods as well. This is all inspiring me to keep at what I am doing.
Hi Golden, and I agree your breakfast /lunch of bran, chia, coconut, nuts and berries sounds good. And I am seeing an image in my head now of it. Very pretty looking... Colours of earthy brown, white, blue and red. Is the bran crunchy? And yeah I am not sure if you would call me vegetarian or not. I aim to eat mostly plants. That is vegetables, fruits all kinds, nuts, seeds( think I may need to eat more of these) and lentils, chickpeas, beans and yeah tofu. As well as some wholegrains like quinoa, oats, brown rice. And I try to not eat any processed foods. You are going good Golden also choosing to love yourself by eating foods with tons of nutrients.
Hi Tayla, hope you are going ok there
Well this morning I have drank a chocolate smoothie with ripe banana, spinach, cacao, date, vanilla and soy milk.
For dinner last night I ate mashed potato, green beans, carrot, cauliflower and lentils all with a creamy delicious mushroom sauce poured over it.
My mashed Potato had :
organic dutch potatoes (woolworths sells these)
soy milk
nutritional yeast
Massel vegan chicken stock powder
and freshly ground pepper
Also been consuming turmeric and ginger drinks every few hours or so for pain in my mouth. Not totally sure about this yet, but it appears my skin likes this. It just looks better.

The foods I chose to eat yesterday were not very nourishing or beneficial for me. Of course I ate purple grapes, because they are one of my favourite fruits. So that is a good choice.
But I drove through KFC near the beach. Some food habits are a challenge to break. I bought hot chips and those dinner rolls. Later on in the day I ate a packet of TV snack biscuits. Think I did have a green smoothie in the morning, so that was a good choice if I did do that.

Hi Shelll
Looks like you kept motivated and kept flooding with nutrients...
I had an average day also yesterday with food - not eating for several several hours and I struggle to eat at all in the morning> For me this leads to binging and unhealthy food and I know I need to eat....
Hope u enjoyed ur smoothie and the food that u ate
I've been eating red grapes too as a fave and I add in some blackberries which I love
Thanks for keeping this thread so helpful and kind
