I have been struggling eating and eating healthy foods over the last couple of weeks. I really do not want to go back further to how I use to eat, that is eating junk food, takeaways, copious amounts of chocolate, processed junk and comfort eating.
Finding it challenging to stay motivated to actually prepare what I know helps me feel better mentally, emotionally and physically. Plus I have been feeling overwhelmed with other stuff happening in my life, which somehow makes it more challenging. The old unhealthy comfort eating thing is coming back. And I think I am getting concerned and scared about that. I so much do not want to go back to how I use to be. I was so sick. Plus I now have some physical things not right in my body , so I need to be more careful and mindful of what I eat. ( Pre cancer cells , high blood pressure )
I was eating really well since Febuary of this year, it’s just the last couple of weeks I haven’t.
So I would like to use this thread to help me be accountable to Beyond Blue people. So like a diary where I can post and report what I eat. And also any healthy eating tips, motivating strategies to help eat better or anything related to healthy eating for our bodies including our mental health.

hi all
you're all so supportive
i wish more dialogue around food was kind like this
Hi Shelll, I'm struggling with binge eating and disordered eating myself
i am overweight and was previously underweight, my body is all over the place
I guess I feel comforted and alive when I eat something sweet,
I love the felafel you described and the variety of spices
i've been enjoying eating some new foods i haven't ate much of:
vegan cheese made with cashews,
rice thins with almond butter and bananas
and gluten free fruit loaf
love the cooking and food posts

Hey Sleepy, I am sorry you are struggling. It's not easy sometimes. I looked up distorted eating as I had never heard of it. Anyway what I found was interesting. I could relate to some of it well.
I found a self help workbook on it. That you can download and print off for free. If you are interested I could tell you more. Think I may work through it myself.

Food diary for today
Breakfast...
Lunch.... Brown basmati rice, oven baked tofu, roasted sweet potatoes and spinach. With lime date dressing.
Juice with cucumber, celery, apple, fennel, lime, spinach and ginger
👎👎👎 Large Kit kat chocolate block. I fruit roll from Bakers delight
Dinner.... Grapes
Tried eating mindfully the block of kit kat. I read about this in the workbook I mentioned above to Sleepy.
Normally I would taste the flavour of it in the first few mouthfuls or so. Then the rest would be scoffed down.
This time, I noticed the scent of it, the sweetness of it, the creamy feeling in my mouth. And the crunchy bit, because kit kats have that. I also did not eat it in my bedroom alone. I ate it in the car whilst driving along with someone else in the car.
I am not sure why the people suggested doing this mindfull eating as yet. I am hoping it will say further along in this self help book.
However I did notice I ate much slower. And it did not feel as comforting (weird) comforting like a hug.

Hi Shell I might give it a try, what have I got to lose?
Thanks for pointing it out!! You are amazing
Disordered eating for me means starving at night, can't eat during the day, at times hate food at times need food - it's not a tonne of fun!
Glad to see there are such good resources. That website is a good one I've had a look at it previously and found it very good quality!

Yeah I thought it was good quality too. Did you notice it had another workbook on something else you mentioned to me before that you struggle with. Something to do with how you see you body?

I mindful eat.
Keto describes how I eat most of the time. Yet not a strict physophy.
Not too much fast metabolising food or I need a siesta. I save this for Sunday's for a treat.
Thankyou for asking and hope this helps in some way.
