I have been struggling eating and eating healthy foods over the last couple of weeks. I really do not want to go back further to how I use to eat, that is eating junk food, takeaways, copious amounts of chocolate, processed junk and comfort eating.
Finding it challenging to stay motivated to actually prepare what I know helps me feel better mentally, emotionally and physically. Plus I have been feeling overwhelmed with other stuff happening in my life, which somehow makes it more challenging. The old unhealthy comfort eating thing is coming back. And I think I am getting concerned and scared about that. I so much do not want to go back to how I use to be. I was so sick. Plus I now have some physical things not right in my body , so I need to be more careful and mindful of what I eat. ( Pre cancer cells , high blood pressure )
I was eating really well since Febuary of this year, it’s just the last couple of weeks I haven’t.
So I would like to use this thread to help me be accountable to Beyond Blue people. So like a diary where I can post and report what I eat. And also any healthy eating tips, motivating strategies to help eat better or anything related to healthy eating for our bodies including our mental health.

That is an interesting assortment of veggies there in your veggie base Paw Prints. Are you using the peaches and apple/pears for a sweetness?
Regarding the tofu, I always buy the organic one. I think the brand in woollies is "Macro". I choose this one as some companies use GMO soy beans in their tofu. So I just feel a bit safer using the organic one.

Hi Ms Purple,
Yes my sister is the best. She is extremely loving. And I know she loves me.
I know what you mean about the natural high you were talking about. I have felt that when I consume this green drink of wheat grass, barley grass, spirulina and moringa powder. All the nutrients go straight into the blood stream. No digestion needed. And also when I drink other fresh juices that have high nutrient content.
Some of my family members drink dairy milk. We buy the long life one. I think it is about $1 a litre. I do not know if it is helping local farmers or not.

Hi Shelley Anne,
The added fruit is just a way of increasing my fruit consumption. I'm guessing your use of the word "interesting" means it's not a combination of ingredients you would have. 🙂

Today is day 5 without binging and without eating junk except the hot chips the other day.
Dinner last night was garlic and sesame mixed vegetables (green cabbage, beans, carrot) with cashews and these crispy small potatoes. I par boiled some chat potatoes and then finished them off in the oven. All yum!

Hey Shelley,
Just stopping in to say a quick hello and congratulations of five days of no junk. You're doing really well.
I wondered, are you familiar with the Quorn (mycoprotein) frozen products? Some people are allergic to them unfortunately, but for the majority of us that aren't, they're really good alternatives to meat. I use the mince all the time for things like bolognese and nachos and tacos, and the pieces are not unlike chicken - I use them in pad thai and other stir fries if I'm not in the mood for tofu. I imagine they'd make a good substitute for butter chicken, too. Just a few thoughts as I've made some super healthy and delicious things using these.
Blue.

Nice to see you Blue
No I am not familiar with the Quorn products. I will check them out next time I am shopping. It looks like you can make a lot with it.
Hope your mouth is feeling better now.
And thanks for the congratulations

Thanks.
Yes, they're very versatile. I sincerely hope you're not allergic, as they are very handy. If you want a good plant-based burger, I also recommend the Linda McCartney brand quarter pounders, too (also frozen, from Woolies). Woolies also have Tofurkey sausages, which are really robust and tasty. I've been checking out all the options since I've been vegetarian. 🙂
It's getting there. I have an infection unfortunately, which is annoying but at least it doesn't hurt. It will be a couple of months probably before it all settles down properly.
No worries.

Day 6 of no binging and eating junk.
Today I have eaten some mandarines. And for lunch I made a crunchy coleslaw with curried dressing served with cos lettuce.
The coleslaw had shredded purple and green cabbage, carrot and fresh parsley and fresh chives. As well as some chickpeas. The dressing had cashews, lemon juice, garlic, curry powder, water and vegan chicken stock powder. The dressing ingredients were all blended up until creamy.
I served the coleslaw in a bowl with Cos lettuce. So so yummy. Even meat eating hubby liked it.

Sorry about the infection in your mouth Blue. Does it make eating a bit of a challenge then? No need to answer on this thread if you would rather not. I can check your thread.
I think I may have seen the tofurkey, but I have never bought it. Maybe it is close to the tofu in Woolies. I will have a look at that to. At the moment there is one frozen type lentil pattie that I buy. I cannot remember the name. But it has no preservatives or other nasties in them. They taste OK served with something to give them a bit of moisture.
And yes there seems to be in increase in vegetarian or vegan foods in the supermarkets. And even cafes. I am not sure if you have the finances to go out to eat. But have you heard of the app "happy cow"?
