*Trigger warning* Eating for Health and Wellness

I have been struggling eating and eating healthy foods over the last couple of weeks. I really do not want to go back further to how I use to eat, that is eating junk food, takeaways, copious amounts of chocolate, processed junk and comfort eating.

Finding it challenging to stay motivated to actually prepare what I know helps me feel better mentally, emotionally and physically. Plus I have been feeling overwhelmed with other stuff happening in my life, which somehow makes it more challenging. The old unhealthy comfort eating thing is coming back. And I think I am getting concerned and scared about that. I so much do not want to go back to how I use to be. I was so sick. Plus I now have some physical things not right in my body , so I need to be more careful and mindful of what I eat. ( Pre cancer cells , high blood pressure )

I was eating really well since Febuary of this year, it’s just the last couple of weeks I haven’t.

So I would like to use this thread to help me be accountable to Beyond Blue people. So like a diary where I can post and report what I eat. And also any healthy eating tips, motivating strategies to help eat better or anything related to healthy eating for our bodies including our mental health.

Dinner last night- lentil pattie, small chat roast potatoes, broccoli, fresh beans and carrots.

snacks- grapes, 1 slice of toast with almond butter and raw honey

Did you find motivation to cook your chicken pasta?

Thanks for sharing the stuff you do regarding the carbs. I was wondering because their seems to be a thing out there about eating more protein, and less carbs. I am not saying I agree with it though.

Breakfast- purple grapes

Lunch- quinoa and vegetable salad with fresh baby spinach. Dollop of cashew sour cream on top. ( vegetables were beans, onion, carrot, broccoli, garlic, mushroom and the spinach) super yum!

I made a bigger batch of this lunch for tomorrow or the next day.

Your food sounds yummy these couple of days Shelley, thanks for the inspiration.

How are you getting along Annie?

Dinner tonight was leek, corn and potato soup.

Snacks and binge😢

1 hot cross bun, tim tams and choc Easter bunny.

I know why I binged this time. I was struggling with my emotions, sad ones. However I still have a bit of a nice feeling as I know I ate heaps of vegetables today.

Hey Shelleybelly and everyone

Good on you for the great thread.....Im getting hungry reading it ....seriously! I have been okay with the usual ups and downs of the anxiety/depression roller coaster ride....Recovery can be slow....yet its still recovery I guess

Hey MsPurple.....I just bought some purple flowers for a pot that looks like a Hawaiian Tiki...and those mini hot cross buns from Aldi sound gorgeous!

Hey Annie....always a gift to read your posts

Im starting to drool......yummmm

Happy Easter and Hugz

Paul

Hi all

Shelley - not too bad thanks. Some good veggie soups (cauliflower, zucchini, shiitake mushrooms in veg stock this time) with tofu. Also bought some cauliflower ‘rice’ so will have that tomorrow. And inspired by the cafe thread (social area) I’m going to try cooking corned beef this weekend. I did have a verry nice piece of cake today though for a relative’s birthday.

Paul - hi. Love your new profile pic 🙂

Hello Everyone,

Annie - Lucky you, I was also inspired to do the corned beef this weekend, but called in at the butchers this arvo & they didn't have any. I've never heard of cauliflower rice, can you let us know how it goes.

Shelley - I'm sorry you're feeling sad. May I send you a gentle hug? One thing I've noticed with your last few posts you've not mentioned breakfast. Are you skipping it or just not posting about it, I ask because missing it can affect our moods.

Awe hug accepted Paw Prints. Thank you kindly.

And yes I sometimes intermittently fast. So do not have breakfast. So yeah I purposely choose not to have any.

Thats great the veggie soups Annie. I love cauliflower. I would be interested about hearing about the cauliflower rice too. I also have not tried tofu in a soup. How was that? Did you shred it or dice it up?
