I have been struggling eating and eating healthy foods over the last couple of weeks. I really do not want to go back further to how I use to eat, that is eating junk food, takeaways, copious amounts of chocolate, processed junk and comfort eating.
Finding it challenging to stay motivated to actually prepare what I know helps me feel better mentally, emotionally and physically. Plus I have been feeling overwhelmed with other stuff happening in my life, which somehow makes it more challenging. The old unhealthy comfort eating thing is coming back. And I think I am getting concerned and scared about that. I so much do not want to go back to how I use to be. I was so sick. Plus I now have some physical things not right in my body , so I need to be more careful and mindful of what I eat. ( Pre cancer cells , high blood pressure )
I was eating really well since Febuary of this year, it’s just the last couple of weeks I haven’t.
So I would like to use this thread to help me be accountable to Beyond Blue people. So like a diary where I can post and report what I eat. And also any healthy eating tips, motivating strategies to help eat better or anything related to healthy eating for our bodies including our mental health.

Hello Shelly, and everyone..🤗..
You done good today..I’m really so proud of you...I think pop corn is yummy made plain..and I think it’s healthy as well because it’s just vegetables with a tiny bit of oil to pop them....I can go silly with chips...once I open the packet..I need to finish it or it will go stale....so I tell myself😁..my fur babies love chips as well..the three of us share the packet between us....
Curious Shelly...When you make your smoothies up..Do you follow any recipes or just add a bit of this and that and invent your own recipes ?...I would be hopeless at making my own recipe....I remember once I heard kale was good for us..,so I bought some kale...a big bunch of it..then put it all in my blender and added some spring water...and thought yay..a healthy drink...I took one mouthful..and felt so sick..it was horrible...that was my first and last smoothie I ever made😂...
Love winter and making soup...Our beautiful Deebi, gave me a very simple recipe for pumpkin soup...first time I ever had pumpkin soup..now it’s my winters favourite soup..
Hope you have a good night tonight precious lady..
Love and hugs with my care..💜🤗🌹🦋..

Top marks on your desire to make a healthy kale drink Grandy. Kale by its own...yeah it is not pleasant at all is it. I have had a smoothie with kale, orange juice and frozen banana. Think you need something sweet to help with the bitterness of the kale. Frozen mango and frozen pineapple is yummy with the kale as well. Just add a liquid to that.
I do make some of my own recipes. But I follow a lot of times other peoples. The one above was someone else's. It was for inflammation. Good for your body if you have inflammation.
Oh chips yes... Properly nice to hear the crunchy sound that your dogs would make eating their chips. It is possible to make kale chips actually. I am keen to give those a go.
Pumpkin soup is delicious. I have this huge pumpkin vine growing through the grass out back. It sprang up from the compost heap.

Ate far too much food today. My tummy feels like lead. I much prefer the light sensation. I chose to eat too much.
Breakfast... None
Lunch... Vegetable and cannelloni bean soup. I ate 2 cups of soup. Grapes
Then it felt like I was eating all afternoon. I was given 1 Easter egg in a box with little easter eggs, 1 Easter bunny. I ate the whole lot throughout the afternoon.
Then more grapes. throughout the afternoon.
Dinner... Which was late. I made a fresh salad which had cabbage, lettuce, carrot, red capsicum, onion, zucchini spirals, spinach and toasted cashews. With a dressing that I made. ( cashews, lime juice, garlic powder, water, maple syrup, apple cider vinegar, tamari, chili flakes)
Anyways I feel uncomfortably full. Not nice.

Today I have eaten some more of the soup I made a couple of days ago. I ate more grapes. And I ate 2 hot cross buns. I made the hot cross buns out of spelt flour. I had fun making them and piping the white crosses on top. It really got me out of my thoughts, the baking. And the kitchen had some nice scents waffling through it.
I also ate sultanas and an iced chocolate.
I hope this does not trigger anyone. It is about my weight. I personally have no issues with focusing too much on my weight. Because I really don't. I am merely using it as a way to measure how much progress I have and am making. It helps me to see the numbers decreasing, it inspires me to keep going.
Anyways I weighed myself.
So I am aiming to lose some weight by the end of April. I will only weigh myself at the beginning of each month to see how I am going.
Carrying this extra weight does physically and mentally affect me. I can walk around, but it is more of a physical effort then before. And I don't have as much energy as I did before. I also just don't feel fit. And I know this is not a good thing. And I don't like feeling like this. I don't like looking in the mirror either. I am not comfortable with this weight. I feel it holds me back. I want to wear clothes that I like and feel comfortable wearing.
Anyways that is my goal.

Didn't do too well today. I stole an Easter egg from someone else's bedroom. They were going to give it to someone. I replaced it. But it was so hard walking past there bedroom for a week knowing it was in there. I was feeling real sad, so it was even harder to leave it in there. I also ate 1/2 packet of salt and vinegar chips today.
Brunch... Cannelloni and vegetable soup
Dinner... Stir fry vegetables, tofu and brown basmati rice
Grapes, orange juice

Hello Shell,
Oh lass I think you did very well yesterday... the choc egg & chips were just small blips...
May I make a suggestion about your plan to lose some weight... only weighing yourself once a month is a good idea... remember our weight can fluctuate quite a few kgs even over the course of one day... also muscle weighs more than fat... so as we lose weight & by exercise gain muscle it may not show as much change on the scales... so instead of focusing solely on weight, perhaps taking your measurements... bust, waist, hips etc each month might show you small changes that weighing doesn't... just a thought...
The smell of hot cross buns wafting through your home would have been lovely... but then your home must always have yummy smells given the foods you eat..
Be gentle with yourself lass
Hugs
Paws

Thankyou Paws for the tip about measuring myself. I am also keeping a record of other measurements. One being blood pressure and pulse.
Was it you that had some issues with dairy?
And yes our place often has some kind of food scent or this eucalyptus scent. I have been using eucalyptus oil to clean

Drank a chocolate smoothie this morning that I had forgotten that I use make. It is always yummy. Inspired by Jason Vale
Chocolate smoothie
1/2 frozen banana
1 teaspoon tahini
1 teaspoon maple syrup
1 teaspoon cacao powder
Soymilk about 400mls
Blend until creamy.
Options : add handful of baby spinach. I cannot taste the spinach. Just a good way to eat more greens .
Use medjool date instead of maple syrup. Or I teaspoon of raw honey instead of maple syrup

I hear you with the feelings of carrying extra weight Shell. I'm 11kgs into my weight loss ( still have a very long way to go) but it does feel much better to have lost some. I took up swimming up to 4 times/week which really helped.
I also ate less carbs, more healthy fats and proteins and slowly decreased my food intake.
You can do it Shell!
Speaking of eggs, now I feel like dipping toast into a couple of soft boiled eggs for breaky.
Another trick I learnt was to only eat when hungry and to hold off eating for a couple hrs at times...it has worked!
