SLEEP

Hi All,

In the past there may have been threads on sleep and how to improve our quality of sleep.

I am starting this thread up and hope to include past thread titles.

For some of us sleep is a real issue, the more we can learn about it the better informed we will be.

Funny stories on weird places you have fallen asleep are welcome as well.

For me, I had just moved house and was very busy getting everything organised. Friends invited me to the drag races. I was so tired and exhausted that I sat down, leant against the fence right near the starting line and fell asleep for most of the evening.

Hope to read some of your stories and tips.

Cheerio for now, from Mrs. Dools

Alrighty it's 5:24am I am finally rolling into bed and I am sooo tired I can barely keep my eyes open, I think I might actually get some sleep very soon!

Sleep well everyone,

Keypi 🙂

Hi Keypi, annie, Quirky and all reading,

Last night I took a stronger sleeping tablet the Dr gave me. I still woke up a few times but managed to get back to sleep. This morning I feel really tired and like a zombie. I also know the pill makes me feel like a tiger with a sore tooth so I am going to have to be careful what I say to people today! Ha. Ha.

I will try not to take too many swipes at my husband! It is a bit like having a dose of truth syrup and the crankies all in one.

I wonder if it is really worth taking with these side effects? Maybe natural tiredness is better than these side effects!

I am raving like a lunatic! Oh the joys of a messed up head!

Cheers all from Dools

Hi all,

Well my sleeping patterns are all over the place. And I have not had any more caffeine either. I have noticed lack of quality sleep and no set routine effects my life big time. I have really noticed it. I use to sleep fairly good last year. So I can easily make a comparison.

Anyway I have been reading a little bit about circadian rhythm. ( not sure if that is correct spelling) Anyone else know about this?

Anyway that is my plan for the next coming week. I am going to work on training my body to go to sleep at a regular and set time each night and wake up at a set time.

Why? Because honestly I cannot keep this up, not sleeping well. And sometimes not at all. I try to be positive. But it really sucks as my quality of life as gone down hill because of this sleep issue. And it cannot be healthy either.

What a bunch we are...alot of non sleeping going on among us!

Keypi - the massage didn't really help, set me off into a panic attack, so much for relaxation!!

I'm really looking forward to some cooler weather. I think when I can leave my balcony door open I tend to sleep better.

Hi Everyone!

Its soooo hot...omg

Annie......Dools has a good point about some light meds before bed (if prescribed of course)

I have a anti anxiety med that I have a tiny part of (when required) when I have difficulty sleeping....If I can ask....how did the panic attack feel?.....as in...out of 10?

I hope you have a better sleep tonight

kindest thoughts always

Paul

Hi Paul

I haven't been prescribed any meds at the moment. (I take a couple for other things and I imagine juggling it all would be 'interesting'!) Way back I had something that you could take as needed and it helped a lot but these days they don't prescribe that particular one...

I had a panic attack Friday and another yesterday. They always feel like a 10 Paul just cos I hate them so much, but especially when you haven't had one in a while it's the 'worst ever'. And even after all these years it usually takes me a little while to recognise it IS a panic attack grr. I'd say Friday was probably a 5 and Saturday 6 or 7 but I've never actually been asked to rate one before - interesting?!

Hi Annie,

Damn that really sucks that the massage didn't go well, sometimes I am a bit scared about going to get a massage I'm not really sure why I guess I worry they will do it really hard even when I ask them to do it softer.

I'm sorry to hear you've been having panic attacks, yeah they are really awful, the other week I had 3 in one week and before then it had been years. It's such a horrible feeling 😞

As I haven't been sleeping very well and was feeling so tired and decided to sleep a bit today I felt a bit more functional for the afternoon so that was good I guess I just home I'll be able to stay asleep through the night tonight, fingers crossed.

I hope you get some rest too Annie,

Keypi 🙂

I don't know if anyone has heard of ASMR (autonomous sensory meridian response) ... I don't really know much about it but I have watched a few youtube videos and it is definitely relaxing. Some people swear by it and listen to it while they sleep. Its all sorts of sounds and whispers and tapping on the mic and other things that are supposed to help you relax.

Hi RocktoReef,

Yes actually a couple of work colleges told me they listen to it, I had forgotten all about it. I might take another look into it and see if it can help me get to sleep.

Hello Dools and everyone

Hi Annie

I didnt want to get off Dools thread topic and venture into meds...Yet depending of the severity of a persons anxiety condition a consult with a doc can sometimes be an excellent pathway to having a good quality sleep

As ShelleyAnne touched on above.....If we continue to experience poor quality of sleep it can damage our health not to mention possibly increasing any existing anxiety symptoms

Anxiety is no different....If our anxiety is having an detrimental effect on our day to day well being then its time for a chat with our GP. This is my 36th year working on these issues.

Its like a dog chasing its tail........If a person has a diagnosed anxiety condition......Poor quality sleep wont be helpful to our recovery....

I hope that made some sense 🙂

my kind thoughts

Paul
