Another nice little topic to chat about 🙂

It's really important to those of us with mental issues to hold on to our achievements and successes, especially the ones over our illnesses. Each and every achievement, no matter how small you might think it is, is so important. We should celebrate and take pride in each achievement- because each one is a step towards recovery.

So in this topic I'd like us to share our successes. You can post as often as you like, every time you have an achievement or success you'd like to share (even if you think "but it wasn't that big a deal"). Yes it IS a big deal! Fighting an illness is hard work, so lets celebrate all our achievements!

When i first fought my anxiety, my very very first challenge was to drive to the local shops. And I achieved it, and boy did I celebrate. Might not sound like much to someone else, but to me it was like climbing Mount Everest while wearing shorts and thongs (i imagine). So you better believe I went home and danced around my house celebrating my success!

My most recent achievement I am celebrating is: I attended my first job interview in 3 years that i did NOT take any anti-anxiety medication whatsoever for. Every other interview in the last 3 years i've needed strong anti-anxiety medication. But after much therapy and hard work, i learned more and more coping skills. I was nervous about not taking the medication as I was so used to doing it, but not only did i get through the interview but i did it calmly and kept my anxiety well under control. I'm pretty proud of myself!

(Also I got the job- yay- but unfortunately i cant accept it due to other reasons. But I'm still celebrating being offered a job!!!)

So lets hear it! Whats a recent achievement, positive step or success you made? Take pride in it and celebrate it!!

Hi Dottie,

You may think you posted in the wrong place, even so I appreciate your posts where ever they are!

My achievement today was being able to admit and accept the fact that I made some mistakes while helping with the Riding For the Disabled today.

Usually I do not cope all that well with instruction when my brain turns it around and tells me it is criticism. I am not always good at owning up to my mistakes. To do so and to be prepared to learn was huge for me!

Cheers all from Mrs. Dools

Hey Mrs Dools,

Oh that's a wonderful achievement 🙂 I'm really bad at owning up to mistakes as well so I've very proud of you!

My achievement of the day...hmm...oh, I got to work at 930 instead of 945 🙂

James

Hi,

Mrs. Dools, thanks for the lovely message 😊 Well done! Owing up to mistakes takes is hard and takes strength of character so that is a huge achievement.

James, 9:30am is awesome! Baby steps, right?

Today:

- I got out of bed (not very excited to face the day but at least I'm up now)

Owning up to mistakes I make can be quite liberating actually.

I don't think my Mum tolerated my mistakes very well and my husband certainly doesn't at times! Especially when I put the recycle bottles in the wrong box! (Ha. Ha) Think that one is more his issue than mine.

It may depend on the mistake, but next time you make one, own up to it and see what happens.

My achievement today was eating 3/4 of a chocolate and not the whole thing! Huge for me. Ha. Ha.

Hi Mrs. Dools,

Thanks for the advice. I'll keep that in mind in case I have any major or minor stuff ups 😉

WELL DONE! Not only was that an impressive achievement (but it also made me laugh ha, ha).

Its refreshing reading everyones positive achievements, big and small.

My achievement over the weekend was making the decision to leave the town I have been living for the past 10 years in search for something new.......very scary.

Hi,

SDW, wow that is a HUGE achievement! That does seem very daunting but hopefully it brings new adventures and possibilities.

Today:

- in about 10 minutes, I'll be rolling out of bed (what I'm currently doing is playing with my phone in bed), and getting ready for the day. Getting out of bed is an achievement as far as I'm concerned ha, ha.

Hi Everyone,

I agree with SDW, it is refreshing and even inspirational to read of people's achievements.

As we are all in different circumstances and experience life in our own individual way, just getting out of bed can be a huge achievement for some people, while moving to a different town is huge as well. Thanks SDW and Dottie for sharing.

The thing is to acknowledge your own achievements, you may think they might be small in the scheme of life, and compared to others, but in your own life they may be huge.

We do not need to compare ourselves to others. That is a lesson I have had to learn over and over!

When I can accept myself for who I am, that is a HUGE achievement!

Cheers to you all from Mrs. Dools

Sage advice, thank you Mrs. Dools! You are a 🌟

- 4 hours of stats uni work (painful...very painful ha, ha)

- dragged my sorry self out of bed to get to work as much as I wanted to call in, ahem, "sick."

Hi,

I'm up and about to get ready for uni. My achievement will be dragging myself to class (even though my preferred course of action today is to mope in bed).
