Dear All
The purpose of this thread is as a meeting point for those that can’t sleep and it is late (I.E. AFTER midnight.)

It can be a useful space for users to share their issues with insomnia as well as coping strategies. It can also be a general space for users to converse and support one another throughout a difficult night.

Please note – for those that are just bored or lonely we already have a place - the BB Café, which I recommend instead of here

sorry to hear that mmMekitty. i haven't listened to an audiobook. i've listened to a podcast, i suppose it's pretty much the same.

yeah i have insomnia & i've struggled with that since i was about 12 in 2012, i'm now 22 (23 this year, although i still feel like a teenager) so i'm used to it. plus i can have time to myself & listen to music or watch things.

Hello Mum Chris, RobThomasLover.......here I am again. 2.40am...I put on a dvd, In My Shoes with Toni Collette, Cameron Diaz, Shirley MacLaine....a good one if you ever see it anywhere. Dont have any commitments tomorrow morning so shall try and catch up on some rest as the sun comes up. My cat won't let me sleep past the usual time.......he's been "a reason for getting up in the morning" literally.....I got him year before last a couple of months after my partner died.....after he is taken care of I can lie in as long as I like....so guess what then? Yep, I feel guilty. I have to dress in something at least passable "in case" someone drops in unannounced......no one EVER drops in unnannounced...they are all busy with their"day".

Yes it feels better at this time, checking forum and facebook, any news and having a good movie in the background...much more peaceful. My wish for you is that you find "rest".....have you asked your GP for something to help you? Love, Moonstruck {and its been beautiful these past few nights).....

I like the movie too moon.

it is one of my go to movies Like

Notting hill,

sliding doors

to cheer me up and distract me.

Lots more but I can’t recall any now.

Hi,

I just stayed up till 2 last night and slept from 2 till 7 I didn’t bother with taking what the doctor gave me. I have melatonin but it’s not working so may as well stop it.
My husband complained that me watching shows and movies on the iPad was keeping him awake so I feel like I need to lay quietly and it’s torture.
im watching a show called righteous gemstones and it crack me up. I have watched every episode so have to wait till next week now. I used to like rom coms and tried but I’m too jaded these days.
I have a dog that likes to check on me during the night and wakes me sometimes and if I had a cat I’m sure it would join the game.

Hi mum Chris.

I sometimes go to bed late when I'm anxious, it's soothing for me to look at my device even though drs recommend against it.

Reighteous gemstones is hilarious, it's so funny and enjoyable.

I liked Joe jonas guest starring in last week's episode....so funny.

If u like it, have u seen vice principals? It has a lot of the same actors and is made by same ppl. X

Hi Sleepy

Was it really him I was unsure. I will check out that show. I find watching my iPad helps me fall back to sleep. I’m taking a melatonin pill and putting on meditation music and going for a big night.
Wishing everyone a good night

Hello....it was indeed Joe jonas. Rest well

Hello my friend Moon, i read your beautiful post of the night-time. So much imagery. I am up at 1.45am & cannot sleep. I struggle with sleep, but it has got worse this past couple of weeks or so. I agree with you though re feeling more at ease when others are sleeping. It feels a less threatening time. You don't have to be on guard. I hope you are either asleep or enjoying these wee hours that you describe so well. Might catch up with you on covid thread, this stress has been a contributing factor to my lack of sleep i am sure.

Hi

I had a medicated sleep and I’m struggling to shake off the medication but I needed it.

I don’t find the quiet of the night peaceful I find it scary and full of dangers. I’m starting work with a psychologist to help me overcome my fear. The fear of nighttime has come and gone in my life and at times it’s been debilitating. It’s not as bad as it has been but it’s back.
I fill my mind with comedies and relaxation music and that seems to work. I feel safe in my bed so if I wake and my mind starts going over what I need to do next day I like to put in ear bud and watch something on my iPad. Drs do say that is bad for sleep but I don’t think I have insomnia I have issues. Lol.
I agree that the iPad can be a good distraction as I often end up falling asleep while it’s going

Hi mum Chris.,,,how are u? I get hyoervigilant at night and can strongly relate to Ur statements about finding night terrifying.

I consulted with a sleep specialist recently and hope to do a sleep study,

It helped me to hear from someone who has seen many ppl with sleep issues, I had confidence in his suggestions and he was collaborative and effective.
