Hi Everybody
This is only the basic dictionary definition...
"Mindfulness is a state of active, open attention on the present. When you're mindful, you observe your thoughts and feelings from a distance without judging them good or bad. Instead of letting your life pass you by, mindfulness means living in the moment without judgement"
- Please be as blunt you wish....If you dont have an idea about mindfulness it would be great if you could let us know
- If mindfulness hasnt worked/or is too broad a concept for you it would great if you can let us know your thoughts too
- If mindfulness has helped you, please help others to help themselves by posting how you have embraced this mindset
It goes without saying that the forums are a judgement free zone and I really hope that everyone can jump in and have their say
Your input is highly valued no matter how you respond to this topic. There are no experts here...New Posters are Most Welcome!!

Hey Ggrand,
My name's Flick SnotGrass...no really....honest....good to meet you Ggrand.
Anyway, I hope I can call you Karen, Ggrand.
Karen, you can call me Flick if you want ... my friends call me Snotty.
I digress, you caught my eye with "Managed to destract myself from my thoughts. did try again and managed to complete a mindfulness session.
Feeling more calm and better about myself." Fantastic!!!! Karen. A heartfelt well done.
When I goof and do something productive and useful for myself I give myself a Gold Star.
Literally.
I have a big package of sparkly Gold Stars and I give myself one everytime I do something that I feel good about, about mysElf.
Got two already today!!!
Give it a go Karen, can't hurt...and it'll build your self appreciation of yourself ~ appreciatively,
Warm regards,
Flick SnotGrass

Hi Flick,
I've seen you around the forums, I'm very pleased to meet you formally.
I will buy a book and some gold stars and give it a try writing down what I done to earn the star and how I felt. Thank you for that suggestion. I'll try anything to keep from going to far into my dark tunnel.
I read a thread a week or so ago on about doing something to distract your thoughts so today I tired myself out by cleaning up around home. Then after I rested a bit I tried my mindfulness session and yeah it worked.
Mindfulness has really intrigued me and it's like something I need to do right each morning and night or my day is not a good day.
Kind regards
Karen

Hey Karen,
You bet! It's a pleasure to meet you too.
I have a quick quick Brain Reprogramming tip for you my dear...
from this moment onwards, catch yourself when you say, think or write the word TRY.
Hypnotists agree that the word try is an implicit suggestion for you to fail.
Try will give you 'unconscious' permission for you to fail, sorry I don't make the rules, and no I'm not a hypnotist.
Give yourSelf a genuine GOLD STAR for every time you goof and catch yourself trying and replacing the word with DOING or making every effort..
This quick brain trick will change how your brain 'cross~files' or makes meaning from the world.
Check out Yoda's speech to Luke Skywalker on YouTube
'Do or Do not...there is no TRY'....
"May The Force be With You Karen"
hugz,

Karen: yes absolutely some days are harder than others and that is just so awesome that you finished a session and even better than you feel calm. How good is the feeling of being calm!! Used to take that for granted but when i find myself feeling completely at ease now, I soak that right up!!
Keep going, you are doing so well.
Flick: great to meet you and can i say that your presence on this forum and this thread is so far above being gold.
Your thought processes, your techniques that you use and your presence is outstanding.
Gold stars - wow - what a brilliant idea.
The word "try" - yep gold star stuff right there and that saying of Yoda is one of my faves.
Awesome to have you here and learning so much of each of your posts.
Giddee up!
Mark.

Giddee up! indeed MarkJT!!!
Hey!!...Thank you too for the lovely sentiments....I'm one of the lucky ones who had no choice but to get out of a horrendous endless scabby hell...and lo and behold, once I had, I discovered that others would like the odd 'Get out of Hell Tip' too.
Who was the guy with the cigar who said ~ "If you find yourSelf in Hell....keep going"? It'll come to me.
Appropriately manly hugz,

Hi Karen MarkJT Flick Moon Quirky and Everyone else on the forums too 🙂
Karen....thankyou for the super nice reply you wrote on the last page....You are doing everything you can...and if memory serves mindfulness can become a really good habit that only improves with 'being aware' of doing it. Thankyou so much for being a part of what we are trying to achieve in changing our mindset...even a little bit is a huge step in the right direction..
Flick....thanks heaps for your super complimentary post and your input too! You have a really good 'handle' on whats happening with mindfulness.....I love the Gold Stars....You are a breath of fresh air Flick! (Manhug for you if thats okay)
Moon....you are and always have been a huge help to so many on the forums.....I mentioned to Karen that I am still learning about mindfulness....and just doing what I can to make it a 'habit' without trying...I hope that made some sense. You are a gift to the forums not to mention how long you have been a member too x
Quirky....You have an innate gift for supporting and understanding so many people...thankyou heaps for your excellent question you asked on the other thread too x
MarkJT....Please excuse me if I am repeating myself but this is important to me. To have your up to date training/understanding on Mindfulness is a benefit to so many people that choose not only to read the forums (which you know anyway) but the people that take the time to post too....my best for you MJT
Take good care everyone
Paul
