How do you all stay positive

Hi guys this is my first time starting a discussion ever and I want to just ask how everyone stays positive. Recently in my life I have felt like whenever something goes right, something else immediately goes wrong, usually a medical issue. I just have been struggling to stay positive and struggling with a low self esteem and have finally worked up the courage to ask for help.

Hey there, thanks so much for your courage in reaching out, and we warmly welcome to the forums.

I'm sorry to hear that you've been struggling. As somebody who also struggles with self-esteem, I can relate to what you're going through.

For me, I find positivity alone can feel overwhelming when I'm feeling low. It can be difficult to think in such terms if you're not feeling very optimistic about the world.

In my case, I find it far more beneficial to write in my journal about how I'm feeling or make a small list of things I'm grateful for in my life, as these tend to lift my spirits in a more gradual way and put me in a better headspace. I also enjoy immersing myself in nature, I find that helps to recentre myself. Even talking through it with somebody I'm close with can be therapeutic as well. When you're struggling, little efforts to remind yourself of the good things that exist in life can be so helpful.

Do you have any loved ones who you'd feel comfortable opening up to in the times that you need it most? Friends, family, colleagues? Talking to people who know and understand you can work wonders if you're struggling - it helps alleviate some of that emotional burden.

I hope there's something in my experience that can help you feel better, please feel free to keep chatting with us if you've got more you want to get off your chest, we're here to listen.

All the best, SB
