Hi jack
i am really young but I seriously know what you are talking about and it happens to so many of us around Christmas and I have limited ways to deal with this except for one tip which is just simply setting goals for yourself toget through one thing and then the next trying this helped me and continues to help me.
I hope that helped I am new here.

Hello Jack
Your feeling is so common this time of year with people who are alone or feel defeated due to whatever is going on in their life. I have had similar sensations, and get sick of the jingle bell hype and consumerism. The constant battle between family and friends about how to spend Christmas, and what you are expected to do and say peeves me off. So this year, my partner and I have decided to toss it, and volunteer to spend the day cooking and cleaning in a local charity, to give to others who are less fortunate than us. I tell you this not to bignote ourselves, but to show one way of shaking off the blues and regaining some sense of self-respect and purpose. It is interesting to note that it took many phone calls to find a chairty that would take us....because there are so many volunteers with the same motives.
Hope this encourages you somewhat...Chin up...take it one step at a time.

Hi Jack57
Im just about your age if '57 is the year you were born....I was born in '59 which makes me 56
I understand where you are coming from...especially those two words 'wasted life'. I have to agree with you as I do feel the same way occasionally especially at this time of year...
Jeff Kennett (The Chairman of Beyond Blue) said on 3AW yesterday ' loneliness at Christmas is a huge issue with tens of thousands feeling the same way'
I am in the same boat as yourself Jack....Can I extend an invitation to you to have a chat/gasbag or even let us know what you are or arent doing over Christmas....only if you wish of course....
you are not alone here in any shape or form....It would be great if you could be part of the family here..The forums are rock solid secure for your privacy..
It would be great if you could stick around
my kind thoughts
Paul

There is a lot of what you have said that means so much, but we can only presume what you have missed out of in all the years that have passed you bye.
Sometimes we just happen to wake up and realise that all our friends are now married and have children, while you are sitting at home and have not achieved any of this, that's the sudden shock that confronts you, but the other side to this is that we could have been married, had children but now lost it all, so unfortunately it can go both ways.
Fortunately that hasn't happened to me, but there would be many people that have suffered from this, but I am really interested in the years gone bye that have made you feel this way, it sounds as though you could write a book for us, so please we hope that you do reply. Geoff.
